Could they have possibly designed a less appealing first week? I reckon they would have a hard time if they tired

Im mostly impressed at how they managed to make 2 km at 2,5% into a categorized climb.

Kimmage was on this course the other day and it was extremely windy.

It's our only hope but I'll stick my head on the line and say Kittel FTW.

There are a lot of Km's along the coast and the weather is very unsettled. I'm sure there is a decent chance the wind can play a part if raced hard. Maybe OPQS will try and do something.

Tomorrow's weather is 10c, rain with wind from SSW 8mph gusting 12mph together with narrow roads & a nervous peloton should make it interesting.

OPQS loves crosswinds. Kittel obviously the big favorite but maybe Petacchi has a shot at pink.

Ale Jet ... easy work for the OPQS train
What train? I can only see Vermote and Keisse to launch Ale-Jet. Maybe De Gendt as well, it will be awesome.

It's a bit of a long stage, so it's possible that some of the fastest guys may not be at full strength on the sprint, plus, if it rains... idk, we may have some surprises here (like someone steal the win from Kittel)

I don't care who wins, as long as AleJet gets enough bonus seconds to be in pink one again! :D

Kitty gets this. It will be a shocker if he doesn't.

Actually it won't be a shocker.Anything can happen, there is 100 km along the coast, its almost impossible to design better stage for crosswinds.
IMO at least one team will try something, maybe Omega or even Movistar, hard to say;)

Since they couldn't be bothered to utilise the terrain around Ireland and instead serve up an awful stage profile, it's time to hope they utilise the weather around Ireland to make up for it. We need wind and probably rain. Not for crashes, but to make it a real hard man's day in the saddle.

Voted Viviani. Cuz he beat Cav, cuz he will be full of confidence and that does wonders for Italians and he has a streamlined face and cuz Im gonna have a wager too.

Go viviani!

I thought Belfast put on a good show today given the weather. How did it look from abroad?

I thought it looked great. A risk no doubt for Ireland and the Giro itself but a resounding success ! The fans were great, the marshals thankfully as inept as they are on the continent which only adds to the fun.

Just hope the authoritarians in Yorkshire dont subjugate everyone. Already pi$$ed that it costs £40 to see the teams in Leeds. grrrrrrrrrr
