The final climb on stage 11 has a 7km section at 8% average. Should be too tough for Swift normally.

Stage 17 on the other hand should be doable.

Yeah he admits as much himself but his performances this year suggest he could just about do it.

Hopefully Bouhanni doesn't take out all of the sprinters before then. No place for that when peoples health and livelihoods are at risk. Aggression like that is a sign of weakness not strength.

I wonder too,anyone know why?

ok arms and elbows, but headbutt is too much imo;)

Jetse Bol crashed together with Wilco Kelderman at around 33k to go. Kelderman got back after Bol worked to get him back, but Bol himself couldn't make the peloton.

Lol. Let's throw in some punches, just for good measure.
Greipel said that Bouhanni once invited him to 'step outside' to settle a dispute. The guy has serious hormonal issues.

Would have loved to see that. Nothing more ridiculous on this planet than little skinny guys with a big mouth.

Complimenti agli "amatori" del gruppo che non hanno gambe o per ordini di squadra fanno buchi nell'ultimo km per vedere chi cade nella rete.

Just watched the last 7 K. Personally I think that Cannondale is coming to the front too early. They started hard around 4 K. They had a pretty decent lead out. Maybe if they wait a little earlier they'll do better....that's what I'm hoping for. Good job by Swift as well.

Lol, if he doesn't want to rely on others not making a gap, he should be up front himself. I think it's only understandable and perfectly fine if some teams deliberately leave gaps so their captain gains time on GC.

To be fair, that is a good way to settle a dispute.

You've put me in mind of that "Bambi on Ice" dispute that occurred a few years back. Does anyone remember the incident? I'm pretty sure it was at the Tour.

Thanks a lot brother, really appreciate it:)

Intermediate sprint
1 Maarten Tjallingii (Ned) Belkin Pro Cycling Team 10 pts
2 Yonder Godoy (Ven) Androni Giocattoli 6
3 Miguel Angel Rubiano Chavez (Col) Colombia 3
4 Gert Dockx (Bel) Lotto Belisol 2
5 Giorgio Cecchinel (Ita) Neri Sottoli - Yellow Fluo 1
6 Elia Viviani (Ita) Cannondale
7 Roberto Ferrari (Ita) Lampre-Merida
8 Ben Swift (GBr) Team Sky

So what happened here?
A) By pure coincidence, three of the main red jersey contenders happened to be at the front of the peloton as it rolled through the sprint point.

B) Despite having radios, they were unaware that there was a 5 man break up the road.

C) Riders and DSs don't know the point structure for intermediate sprints.

D) They thought it would be worth getting in a bit of sprinting practice.

E) CN have got the point allocation wrong.

In fact he just praised someone's quite cool team tactics - maybe Astana's (Aru) or Saxo's (Rogers)?
I find trying to create a gap as totally legitimate, unless there's some unwritten rule of the peloton that this is not done

Thanks for answering my question about Jetse, hoped he would top 10 today after narrowly missing one y/day,that's too bad he couldn't make it back to the bunch, must have expended a lot of energy helping Kelderman, job of a good teammate.

Now that the Irish portion of the Giro has ended, how does everything get to Bari by Tuesday morning?

I assume the riders and many team staff left Dublin on a Chartered flight or two on Sunday night (or AM Monday), presumably direct to Bari.

But what about the team cars, buses, trucks etc? Ferry to the UK or France, then a mad drive of close to 1900km from Calais to Bari on Monday, which is pushing things to the limit, or have they got two of everything?

To be honest, I haven't taken much notice of the Cars etc and whether they have the normal ones, likewise the Buses.

IIRC I have heard during the italian commentary the teams already have a second batch of all the team cars/bikes/buses in Italy.
