santa or weening prob better options anyway

Weening doesn't want to ride for GC. He always has 1-2 days he loses minutes and he is aware of that so he doesn't bother.

In GT's that is.

I made a rough calculation of the sprinter's speeds from 150m out based on:

The distance to go signs.
The helicopter shots
The official race time clock
A couple of different videos for different angles and landmarks.

I make it as

Swift: 60km/h
Kittel: 63.5km/h

It was slightly up hill and into the wind apparently.

So what happened here?
A) By pure coincidence, three of the main red jersey contenders happened to be at the front of the peloton as it rolled through the sprint point.

B) Despite having radios, they were unaware that there was a 5 man break up the road.

C) Riders and DSs don't know the point structure for intermediate sprints.

D) They thought it would be worth getting in a bit of sprinting practice.

E) CN have got the point allocation wrong.

Neither. The problem is that the points as they can be seen on Cyclingnews are the points for the intermediate sprint competition. However, in the intermediate sprints, points for the real points competition can also be obtained (apparently for the first 10 riders, with 20 points to number 1, and then I don't know the further allocation of points).

Viviani got 6 points in the intermediate sprint yesterday, according to RAI. I'll check on the rules if I can find the complete point system.

per ogni traguardo volante in base all’ordine di passaggio e secondo la categoria della tappa, saranno assegnati rispettivamente i punti:
categoria a e b: (primi 10 classificati) 20, 16, 12, 9, 7, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1
categoria c: (primi 5 classificati) 10, 6, 3, 2, 1
categoria d: (primi 3 classificati) 8, 4, 1

Yesterdays stage was a Categoria a, as all other flat stages.
