lol @ people here thinking quintana didn't look good. what do you ecpect? a 52 kg guyw, who hasn't raced since march to hammer the peloton on a 4% climb? aqlso he did the best job out of everyone for gc. evans will never be a factor and quintana knows that and purito is out of the race. now he only has his countrymen duarte(him especially) andc uran to slightly worrie about for gc.

But lots of them do, and will. Movistar had/have a rep for it and it made them very unpopular. Remember when they attacked BMC (after Phinney crashed into the parked moto I think) at P-N a few years ago? That didn't go down well.

Yes, and I dislike that kind of whining. I never even cared when they used to whine about Chiappucci attakcing in feed zones and wherever. Again, deal with it, this is a sport, not a tea party. I love this sport, but there's too much whining over stuff that's just accepted in every other sport. I have yet to see a skier slow down or stop because a rival crashed or broke a tip. I have yet to see a boxer avoid hitting an opponent in the midsection after it becomes obvious a rib has been broken. When a basketball player twists an ankle on the court and it's a 5 on 4 situation, the team with 5 rushes in to score an easy basket. It's part of the sport. Suck it up.

Niemiec! No! I needed him to do well for the Giro CQ game. Plus Rodriguez out too. F*** this stage!

Niemiec is down, but not really out in terms of GC point imho. JRod will give stage win points now. fo rme roche is gone

Plus, these roads suck big time. And you put a roundabout with plenty of road forniture a couple of km before hitting the climb. Look at Brajko's crash. It's scary, he could have died there. Really this first week is horribly designed. Its nonsense.

i have only been watching giro for the last 2 yrs, but everytime i hav felt tht some of the finishes are badly designed. This time, the riders hav shown their displeasure by neutralizing a stage. I just hope tht organizers stop treating riders like this for cheap TRP ratings.

They appeared to be putting the hammer down to me, and I have no problem with that. I already explained why. This is the only sport where it's considered unseemly by some to keep playing/going full tilt after a rival screws up or has misfortune. Some of you think that's notch in favor of the sport. I don't see it that way and I never expected a rival in any sport I played to slow down or stop playing because of me. I can't imagine complaining about it afterwards if he didn't.

I recall an incident a few years ago (TdF???) where there was a lot of crashes on a slippery downhill and all riders stopped to regroup (was it Cancellara who led the "revolt"). And I've seen similar incidents several times (although perhaps not at a critical time in the race).

OPQS and Movistar did some chasing so I have to assume that their respective leader is just fine. And maybe it is a good thing for them to let Evans/BMC work a little bit before one of the Colombians will take over in the final week.

What can they do ? The first week of the Tour is often carnage as well. Too many narrow roads with too much road furniture and too many riders. This is the reality of the sport. Add wind or rain and it's even worse.
