Roche for the win. He'll want a stage win - might as well be tomorrow. :D It should suit him.

Well so far I have loved this Giro. Now the real stuff begins. So happy that Cadel has a lead at this stage as it levels the playing field.

Just bet heavily against Cadel at 2:1 as I think the odds were too short but I would love him to win GC. I think Quintana will attack tomorrow and I think it will end with a bunch of 5-10 at the finish. The test. Cmon Ryder FFS!!!

Very dissapointed with Viviani so far but happy for the French having a great sprinter at last.:) When was the last great French sprinter?? Myst be before I was born??

Still no thread for this??? What's wrong with you people???

There is Vino's thread. ;)

I honestly don't care too much who takes this one. I just want to see some real attacks. I hope for whoever attacks and earns it to win.

Who will be fighting for the KOM jersey ?

Rabottini again ... and who else ?

Lost £300 when Rabbotini beat Purito that year. Purito bladts past and us beaten on the line. How ****ed off was I ! Is it already three years ago? Two?? Anyway was happy to lose as he is a real fighter. Hopefully he will look for more than KOM in future?

Has Roche ever won on a climb like this?

I think if it is a GC-conterder showdown Evans will win outsprinting the opposition.

Otherwise I have no clue, I'd like Geschke to win it though. But that won't happen.

I don't know how his form is right now, but if it is good, he has shown he can climb pretty well. I didn't check, maybe he has never won a stage like this, but he definitely can climb. He could or could not end up doing anything today....I'm just wishing that he will since he lost so much time. :) I wanted to see him do well in the GC, now I'd at least like to see him win a stage.

Here's a quote from the man himself.

“Like if I’ve said from the start of the Giro, I don’t feel like I’m at the same level of the best riders. I still haven’t felt the sensations that you need to be up there with the best riders but I hope that will improve as the days pass.”

haha I don't know if I buy into anything before the high mountains, let the legs tell the truth! We will know in the next 12 hours haha

Agreed. I'm secretly hoping he'll do well, I'm just not shouting it from the roof tops. :D Well it was a secret....

He looked pretty strong at the beginning of last year's Vuelta, but he hasn't looked good since he abandoned that race all the way back in September of 2013.

I would really like to see Quintana attack already on Carpegna but then I woke up :p
Anyway, I hope some GC contenders will attack regardless any breakaway out there, its a stage with good tactical opportunities for the brave and smart ones, only problem is, it might be to early in the Giro for that, so just to be conservative I would bet on Quintana or Arredondo. But I still hope for some craziness today.

Btw, thanks for the thread Eshnar, I was in at midnight and thought wtf no thread yet? :D

I'd love to see him win it, I'd also love to see him do good in a GC at a Grand Tour though I don't belive it'll happen. I just hoped you'd know more about his results than I did as I didn't want to do the research. ;)

He should've decided to become a hilly stage hunter I guess, he's ok at everythin but not good enough on anything. Being a Rouleur with a good punch would have fit him. A Gerrans with more depth in the mountains a a slightly worse sprint. He could still be that.

But if he's happy to be an ok GC rider, that's cool for me. He s should decide what he wants to be. It's not just about maximizing a specialty, it's much more about achieving what you want to be good in I think.

Real danger stage for Quintana today. If he is feeling the effects of Thursdays crash this could be the end of the tour for him. Lets hope he manages to stay in contact so he has time to recover for next week

If we base rational decisions on what we've seen so far,the theory from some that Evans will collapse third week and Quintana will end up coasting to victory is just too speculative for me.

It may happen but we'll need to see some indication from Quintana now (this weekend) that the health/form/will is there.

I think the GC guys wont do much on Carpgena. That leaves the door open for someone like Arredondo. But I dont think the long range attack will survive. The GC guys will make it tough.

Quintana will not attack. I think too early and there are many more difficult stages to come. But I hope he follows Evans' wheel through to the finish. You wouldnt want Evans to gain time by any means now on.
