Dear God:

Please show us your mercy by allowing a goddamn breakaway to make it to the finish line---I'm so sick & tired of the GC riders waiting at the last k to attack :D

Let it be a 50 men breakaway taking 15 minutes on the maglia rossa :D

I doubt any other team will let Lampre get away again in stage 9. Unless Lampre chase, I would say breakway win this one.

No other team has an incentive to pull back the break. I see no reason why BMC will work. Everyone is tired and wants the rest day. I would love to see the break pulled back and see GC riders fight it out for the win but it does not seem likely.

Instead we may get the likes of Wellens, CAS, Arredondo, Rubiano, maybe Duarte, Weening, Zardini, or Monslave winning stage 9.

I would much rather see Cadel and Kelderman fighting it out with Ulissi and Kiserlovski for the stage win than see the GC guys simply give the stage away because they simply do not care enough about winning a stage.

Hmm, I think it's harder than it looks, with around 3.5km close to 9%. I think if you're feeling OK you should have a go, when Steve Morabito is the best superdom in the race there's not much to lose. Unfortunately that makes it unlikely that we will see the brutal pace from the start of the climb as we have enjoyed in more recent years and thus any effort later on may go unrewarded.

I think that it's inevitable that we will see long solo attempts come Montecampione and Val Martello.

It looks like headwind - both for the breakaway (so they will need plenty of rope) and after that steep section on the final climb. Maybe someone could get 30 seconds on the steep section but good luck in holding it on the straight 4 km @ 4% headwind section that follows

Maybe Samu will remember what team he rides for

Must also keep something in reserve for the brutal last 200 meters

what happened to samu? Is he injured?

The final climb is tougher than yesterday, but the final 4K aren't steep. Quintana should place his first attack if he wants to win this Giro, about 6K before the finish. Don't forget he can lose about three minutes in the flat time trial and he's already more than one minute behind, so why wait any longer?

3 minutes in the ITT? To who?

In a long and flat ITT sure, but in this Giro's ITT? Are you kidding me? Quintana won't be far off the top 10 IMO.

I don't think he'll lose that much. Nairito is not a bad TT-ist by any means. Plus it isn't pancake flat, which will surely help him. I think he'll lose 1 minute to Cuddles in the worst case scenario, which of course he will take back in the MTT.

Depending on winds/rain, plus whether evans does well, quintana MIGHT lose 2 minutes to evans. After all, evans was 1 minute better than quintana in the flat TT at TDF 2013, and evans was in nowhere near great shape at that time

My guess would be a minute and a half, but indeed 3 minutes is way too much.
