Yeah, probarly true. He isn't fully recovered from his crash either.

Evans is not going to be his most serious threat. He will blow. But Pozzovivo will be a tough nut to crack

What's quintana's injury?

Agreed, if Uran and Quintana had gone after Pozzovivo I don't think Evans could have followed.

He's got some bruises I believe from the crash. Don't think it's anything too serious. Probably some soreness as well.

What do people think will be the time losses for the TT?

Pozzovivo has seemed to improve the past few years. Last years mostly flat 54km he lost 2:34 while in the Vuelta one with the big hill he was only behind Fabian and Martin.

The middle flat 15km will be tough but maybe 1-1:30 loss to Evans for Pozzovivo?

He will take time on Evans.

if a rider is good enough, he never waits until 3rd week. i really doubt quintana will smash everyone on the campione, grappa and zoncolan. all this stuff reminds the 2011 tour pyrenees in a way

Missed the stage. How did the contenders look? Was pozzovivo let go, or was he simply better than the others?
I notice uran, kelderman & Evans finished at the front of the main group. Any indication of relative strength?

The coverage unfortunately didn't show the precise moment of the attack so it's hard to say. He may have been given some leeway though he certainly looked one of the strongest if not the strongest.

Uran tried a 20 second attack (chasing Pozzo) and dropped everyone but Evans/Kelderman/Quintana/Kiserlovski and Majka I think, so they were the best from the rest.

if quintana's injury would have been serious, he won't make it public. i think he will attack on stelvio, possibly even gavia. high altitude is the best for him.

I wonder if some of these guys will regret not attacking Quintana in these stages. He has looked particularly vulnerable on the descents. I'd be putting in a dig on one of those preceding the final climb.

I know he won't podium, but does Ulissi have any chance of keeping this up on longer climbs and harder multi-mountain stages? Or is he just taking advantage of the fact that the GC guys are trying to save themselves and the route suited him so far?

He'll fade on climbs like Zoncolan or Montecampione. He's not prepared for hard, demanding climbs at the moment imo. But in the future he can become something like Purito if he chooses to. Also, he'll surely be a contender in the Ardennes. LFW is suited to his characteristics, while the endurance he proved he has on stage 8 should allow him to contend for LBL as well.

No chance whatsoever.
