Wow, Dan Martin... Garmin have a knack this season for watching everything turn to sh.t in the last corner of a race.

Simon Gerrans, Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi and all that, but Jesus Christ what a boring rider he is. Of course it wins you races, he's the Chelsea of cycling.

Are all hilly classics suddenly being reduced to bunch sprints? What a farce, like any monument Gerrans wins.

In months to come, this one will go down alongside Levi in the Tour de Suisse, where pretty much nobody wanted Gerrans to win, and his winning shows what a poorly-raced edition it was, and this thread will be brought up to amuse people at our overreacting to unwanted results.

Obviously you have never watched many races won by Valverde and many other riders who do exactly what Gerrans did.

And Gerrans consistently reminds me why he's one of my least favorite riders. Any races he wins is boring as s$#@. Too bad Martin fell in the finale. This was a terrible race this year.

Clearly this races aren't hard enough anymore to tire the domestics and break today's very organized teams.

In this day and age every normal pro is capable of being good until very late in a 260k race.

Imo this races need 40/5' more k's so endurance becomes important again and we need smaller teams so things get a little more chaotic.

Pff you first have to win a sprint against valverde and kwia after 250 k.. Deserved winner. Garmin should change its tyre supplier..

Hahahaha I love this (and incidentally hate Chelsea too).

I'd actually preferred Valverde to take this. At least, he was always active up front. The first time we saw Gerrans was in the final.

Valverde can and sometimes does do more though. Roma Maxima this year springs to mind.

Agree, that's the difference between Gerrans and Valv Piti. Gerrans wheelsucks the whole day but wins, Valv has another podium

Yes, because Gerrans wins way more wins than Valverde.

Without actually bothering to check, I'd guess that Valverde is the winningest non-sprinter of this generation.

I'm disliking Valverde because he can do way more. He is capable to drop Gerrans on Saint Nicolas, but he doesn't dare. That annoys me.

Gerrans however, was on his max the entire race. So the only way to win LBL is to wait for the sprint. He did it just perfect. So i can appreciate that more.

If you think Gerrans, who ended up beating Valverde, Kwia, Gilbert, Kreuziger etc, was on the red "the entire race" when he was in a 50 man group with the likes of Tiago Machado, Denifl and Reichenbach than you are delusional.
