little disappointed to hear purito abandoned. Valverde's stock just went up, with one less headache. btw, is Quintana going to race at Romandie? If not, wow.. that means from PV, he goes straight from altitude to giro. meanwhile, another set back for Purito.

I don't think he is currently planning to race Romandie.

He was supposed to do Asturias, but that seems like it will be cancelled now

Might be or not. The truth is he is always alone. I mean ALWAYS. Not a single rider with him the entire races, never. It's beyond pathetic, no words can describe such thing. He should have never joined this mercenary leadless team to beggin with. I mean, bloody hell, Cunego, Ulissi and Niemiec are still in the group ffs, all riding for themselves. And no, they were not the leaders coming to this race nor the other two.

Nobody forced him to sign that contract. He had other options. His fault.

Truer words were never spoken.

I don't agree, why is it unfair? I agree that there are fewer things more sad and frustrating than crashing out of your goal no. 1. But the risk of crashing is equal for every rider (barring positioning, which is part of the racing), so I wouldn't call it unfair.

I know, did not say otherwise. I think it is completely his fault. He was too greedy wanting to lead the Tour.

Lampre is even worse than Vacansoleil. I might be wrong but the only guy I see finishing top10 is Niemiec; yet Cunego and Ulissi will probably be riding for themselves.

The point (although subjective) is that they did not deserve to crash (not saying others did), but Costa for instance was well positioned and trying to avoid hitting the deck, while others who will likely fight for the win are deep in the middle of the péloton risking everything.

Tiago Machado with a killer look.

Why did Andy drop out?

That sounds like the setup to a joke.

edit: here are some answers, to get us started:

- because it was just too hard
- because frank was not allowed to race :(
- because frank was too far ahead :(
- because someone attacked when his chain was dropped and the team thought the resulting fire in his belly was a hazard
- because no one wanted to race and everyone was just watching each other
- because the descents were too dangerous :(
- because there was a nice puppy on the side of the road he wanted to say hi to :)
- because he's 'focusing on the Tour'

Of course it's a equal risk for everyone, but that doesn't make it any better IMO. Cycling can be a cruel mistress, it will throw you to the side of the road and kick you when your down.

When you do the work, put in the time, only to see all that work you put in amount to nothing and your chances of a result come to an end in a split second, well, I'd say unfair is a accurate way to describe it.

I really hope guys like Costa and Purito can re-load and return from this disappointments.

He felt bad about putting so much hurt on everyone else when he made his move. So decided to spare them the hurt for now and save it for the Tour. ;)

I'm not feeling the love for Andy on this thread....
