To set this into context, according to our local newspaper he was fined according to the shortcut/cycling path etc rule. Basically he was taking either a small shortcut or a cycling path and was fined. Commissaires seem to be touchy since KBK with this rule. In the Equipe I read they were generally ****ed for 150 riders showing up 10 min before stage to sign in. They consider this a disrespect to the public. Made now a schedule which the teams where the most riders failed to sign have to appear first :D

So he didn't exactly take an actual "short cut" to give himself an advantage but just rode on a path at one point. Well that's bs.

Wait, what happened here exactly? Saw a post saying he crashed or something, haven't had the time to look into it. So what happened with him?

saneguy posted that in the Discussion thread but I don't think he actually crashed. He just lost time because of a crash, I believe this is what lead saneguy to think he crashed and then lost time. I have not read anything about Andy crashing

Regarding the shortcut, I also think it was a bike path or hopping the curb type situation

I don't blame them. This year's parcours is so boring that not even the riders want to do this race.:D

Tightly bunched on narrow roads, large field, approaching the final 20 kms, nowhere to pass, expect a typical ASO crash scenario coming up. :(

Maybe they will be ok as it will open up on the race circuit.

Was fun to see the finale on a race track like that. It's the first time I ever saw this, I thought it would be a bad idea but it made for some good racing
