So my bet is that EBH will try next year again, question is if he will be given the opportunity. If he is still with sky i doubt he will get a protected role.

EBH wasn't leader today. They said he was, but that was a lie.

When Wiggins punctured, Geraint Thomas waited. When EBH crashed, not a single Sky rider waited for him.

And yes, he will continue trying, unfortunately...

He has just never bothered with minor placings here. It's not like he gave it his all for the 2nd place in 2006 (In my mind he got 5th there), 2007 and 2010.

Boonen agrees with you--he's said repeatedly that he was the 5th strongest guy that day and that the train-crossing penalty was ridiculous.

They relied on Sep getting up front in a small group, but no-one in his wheel wanted to ride on with him after he accelerated on multiple cobbled sections

I missed the live stream so I'll have to wait for it to show up on youtube or something...Congrats to Terpstra. I guess they really should have been the team to win considering their players. Fabian with another podium! Did a pretty good job considering he was outnumbered. I was also very impressed with Degenkolb. It will be nice to see him competing with Sagan and the other new classic riders in upcoming years. The biggest shock of all....Wiggins with a top 10. :eek: Seriously, he really did surprise me....but it didn't change the way I think of him. :D

Incorrect. EBH was the leader (for some reason?), but flipped out on a pave with 50k to go. Could have been ages before he got going again. Wiggin's puncture was much more easily retrievable.

Thomas and Stannard were better classics riders than EBH last season, to those without blinkers. This year it's undeniable

I think it was clear during the race that they rode for Wiggins. EBH was dangling just behind the peloton for 15 kilometers alone while no one waited for him. Also note that Wiggins had number 51 on his back, a clear sign that he was their leader.

Did people really think that Sir Bradley would ride as a domestique after spending the entire year preparing for this race?

You might be right:) Maybe they changed plans mid-race. It would be interesting to know how Thomas working with Boonen fitted into a strategy?

EBH looks a bit better than last year, but hasn't progressed as well as some of the other Sky classics team

Nice photos, I espeically like #20. Would have been even cooler if the car up ahead was kicking up more dust. You should try to sell it to Giant. :D

Yes, great pics! Very high quaility. I liked pic #2 a lot. I enjoyed those as much as Graham Watson's pics.

Edit: Just looked at some different pics from different years on your website....very nice! Will definitely check your site through out the year.

Are you sure about that? I'm pretty sure the likes of Knees, Rasch and possibly Puccio were able to help him back at that moment.

I was there to help the boys and rode into the penultimate one before the Arenberg and did a big turn on the Arenberg. Brad punctured and I went back for him. Eddy had a puncture and I went back for him. Then I got back to the front and just felt like it was the moment to go and I got into that move,

Nice tactics play by OPQS although it is weird.

And chapeau to Boonen. He just raced just like it was his last PR.
Very disappointed to Cance for he just waited for a final sprint.

Sagan changed his way in classic. More attacks, less wheelsuck than previous years. He is still finding his way to win a monument.

I just want to point out something...(lot of talks about winner,Boonen,Canc etc.but)

Degenkolb - I officialy apologize to him and to people who had better guess than me.Before classics I underestimated him a LOT,I expected only good results in GW and KBK from him,but that was a big mistake.Bad luck in MSR and great performances at cobble classics proved that he will be a big favourite for upcoming years!Sorry John!:)

Sagan-6 th place and his PR was better than I expected,he can win this race in a few years,but still needs to improve his cobble skills (tho I think he has pretty bad form so far,won't be a factor in Ardennes imo).

Stybar-he proved that PR suits him a lot,he can fly on cobbles,future win depends on his team and tactics.

Sky-pretty good classic season so far for them,Thomas should be a top contender for cobble classics in years to come.

Yes, he was.

According to EBH he burned a lot of energy to chase back after the field trip, id est he thinks he would have placed better if he hadn't crashed. But comparing his effort with that of guys like Sagan, G, Boonen (who all digged deeper than EBH) you realize that EBH is just way weaker than these guys, and I don't believe he will ever be as strong as these guys.
