A young rider who was expecting to have Froome and Contador in the Tour so went for a big win with a daring attack.

Not saying he's going to win or even podium... just saying he's probably a better bet then Porte is. I can't understand the faith people have in him.

Also Porter is SKY . IN recent years they have daring success in the Tour success at the same time Garmin is famous for their poor tactics and LUCK.

Horner in the front, keep an eye on him in the last two climbs...

Can't understand all the expectation about Horner. Wasn't he nearly killed when struck by a car in April?

Talansky is not even better than Sky's number 2.

You could wind up being right but we certainly don't have any evidence of that yet.

Well, we're about to find out if we are going to have a race or if it will be a processional to Paris. If Nibali shows he's best climber remaining, the rest of this race is going to be a bore-fest. I know, stating the obvious.

Maybe I'm weird but to me the biggest question mark over this race is Nibali's climbing legs for the true big climbs. He wasn't convincing in any MTF this year; obviously he stepped up now but to me it's still a doubt how good he may be.

You could be right. We'll probably see in a few minutes what's the difference between his climbing form here and the one he had in Dauphine. It has to be said that he never looked as strong as he did in Sheffield or La Mauselaine, though.

When was Nibali at altitude this year? There's a dip in form in the immediate days afterwards. His form was poor all year, but it's an open question whether this was due to the timing of his training program or whether he really isn't the same as when he won the Giro.

Fair points. It's pretty open for the top 3 or 5.

Thanks, nice to know it's still possible to have a civil discussion even in all this chaos.

And let's hope one or two of these guys outperforms themselves and either takes it to Nibali, or at the very least attacks their way onto the podium rather than just hanging on so we can get some excitement.

Bertie as a rider is a very likable person, it is just some of his fanatic fans here are so annoying. Now at least they won't have to constantly post AC pics in every thread. LOL
