Jenkin Road was overrated. Contador didn't really try, he mostly just rode their for positioning. Froome couldn't even get a gap on TJVG.

He upped it with 100 metres to go so he went over first.

Sagan had to close exactly that one gap, why would anyone help him?

Maybe Cancellara has broken him mentally. ;)

Looks like Sagan might dispalce Cancellara as the specialist in coming 2nd. Sad to see.

It also says something that Nibali gets rid of his national jersey first chance he gets:D:D

Lol what rubbish, how about the gap Froome and TJVG had on Contador? See sounds rubbish don't it. Froome only attacked at top for positioning, hard to get a gap with that incline

See, Vincenzo Nibali is a rider who, if he feels good, will try something.

That's why I like him and why I don't like Gerrans, to continue the talk from earlier today.

Nibali is a rider who the "romantics" can enjoy because he's smart AND he lights it up.

Libertine Seguros, exactly ;) my man Nibs ;)

Only Sagan and van avermat had anything to gain by hauling nibbles in. Too early for gc guys to take yellow

Only reason any of the gc guys attacked on the last climb was to test each other out.

People use that phrase all the time like it has some weight. "Test each other" isn't anything. Do they really think they'll learn something useful? It's a real pet-peeve of mine hearing that.

I've seen such pitches with bigger gaps, and I doubt it was anywhere near 25% at max. Would've been more spectacle in wet conditions though, but I don't want to put the riders through that:eek:

Might not be a bad ploy from Saxo, Sky, Movistar ect to let Astana do some work the next few stages. It's only 2 seconds after all.

Hilarious isn't it i mean who went for positioning the guy who rode on front for climb or guy who attacked at top to get the positioning for the downhill.

Only 2days racing in their legs. Wait till the proper hills and not these punchy little speed bumps

Great stage :)

Rolland looked at such ease before he went on that climb and great rides by anyone else who attacked. Upsetting that OGE failed- they should have tried to help Alba then pull back rather than leave him isolated against Contador/ Froome...

why does anyone read anything into anything from this stage (other than those who got dropped)? 800m hill with Sagan keeping up. It means nothing. Can we wait for a climb that's more than a minute long before talking about who gapped who? Come on noobs, let's get real here.

These threads used to be fun. Amazing how quickly it descended into pre-emptive defense against any possible slight directed towards Froome. :(

Great win by Nibs, and a great stage overall. I love how selective it became.

Well, he doesn't even know how to keep his head up...

I mean...Contador goes to the front and then Froome does an accelleration from 2.5 ks out (where the F was he going in that situation?).

He set Nibali up perfectly, while Contador was seeing the condition, that's all, of his rivals, because, unlike Nibali, he doesn't need to gain seconds on stages like this. (No offense to Nibali).

In the overall economy of the race, however, now Nibali has a responsibility that Contador doesn't. Nibali's motivation will be sky high so great, Contador will be content with how the end played out...but what the F was Froome thinking? That he could just ride away on a pimple like that?
