Thereby Leipheimer was a good racer and the dullness ought to be pinned on the climbers that couldn't gap him.

Did you like Levi Leipheimer? Did you find him enjoyable to watch?

"In Australia this is called sportsmanship" was brought up, so I responded to that.

And sure Gerrans races the way that's best for him to win races with his abilities. He isn't paid to entertain, he's paid to win.

And that means he's very boring and never adds anything to races, and therefore I can't understand why somebody would cheer for him or feel bad for him when he doesn't win.
Do you never cheer for the underdog even if they have to follow wheels?
For instance if, at the end of this stage, there is someone from one of the invited teams along with the usual suspects fighting out for the win would you not hope the underdog got the win (Assuming your favourite rider(s) is not there)?

btw Good usage of 'invective'. At first I thought you must mean inventive but thought I had better check... a good thing I did.

Really gutted for Cav. Never much of a fan, but for him to fall on a stage so made for him, and for him to miss the rest of the Tour is terrible. He makes sprint stages much more interesting.

Kittel just needs to get set up right by his team now, and green should be his easily.

I do usually cheer for the underdog, actually. It has been pointed out that I am almost obsessed with how dominance ruins entertainment and how I despise almost all dominant athletes. But I can't see a situation where I would cheer for Simon Gerrans unless the only people in the group with him are Sagan, Rogers and Froome. He's got too much of a palmarès to be the underdog anymore; he's another main contender, but a main contender who never brings anything to the race: the worst kind of racer.

Here's or break. Stuck first time from km zero, with Bart bridging to them:

QUEMENEUR (Europcar), LEMOINE (Cofidis), KADRI (AG2R), BUSCHE (Trek), DE LA CRUZ MELGAREJO (Net App), FONSECA (Bretagne), DE CLERCQ (Lotto).

I'll be on my way to Zurich this afternoon, so I won't be able to watch the race. Please people I need detailed posts :)

I noticed something strange yesterday and today is backing it up.

I sighted ARASHIRO riding with his head up in a very good impersonation of Tommy V. Now watch QUEMENEUR in this break - he seems to be doing the same!

Are they taking the mick, or have they just picked it up as a habit? I suppose we'll have to wait to see if the gurning starts next when they hit the first little Yorkshire 'Col':D

Already De La Cruz on the breakaway, we will see him many times in this type of situation during the race.

If Froome underperformed after a tumble in the Dauphine how is Gerrans gonna be at his best after getting absolutely ****ted yesterday?

Crashes always effect riders differently. And we don't know how serious thetis injuries really are (was).

As far as I remember, Arashiro has always ridden like that. I have no idea about Quemeneur, though.

Well if he performs well today after that crash i will call him superman. Im amazed how these guys can cope with something like that. I know if that happened to me i wouldnt be able to move for 2 weeks!

Can't say I've really noticed the Arashiro riding that way before, even when he's been out front. Not saying that he doesn't ride that way. It was just a brief glimpse yesterday that made me think how much he looked like he was doing a Tommy V impression.

Anyway, talking of Europcar. I'm going to chuck Cyril Gautier's name in for today as a real rank outsider.
