That's about 10km across town from me - I can think of a couple of worse climbs closer this way that they could've ridden!

God knows how you can tell if its 25 or 30% from that photo

Like I said, look at the angle of the pole, and also the relative heights of the houses- has to be more than 24%?

Yes it is about 1/3 for about 20 yards starting from the pole, assuming the photo is not distorted

Using this picture (which seems to be slightly tilted) I get a gradient (using Photohop's ruler tool) of around 35 %. Using the other photo posted I get around 30 %.

Basically nothing. Pace was very slow until Blubberhouses and not too fast after. Small breakaway has <3min.
