Inverse starting order compared to GC? Basically the guys who started first are the ones who already lost a ****load of time in the echelons, now i would conclude that they are not the best if it comes to pushing a big gear against the wind....

you clealry are clueless on how echeclons work. it has to do with placing correctly, not pushing big gears against the wind. or you think cancellara can't do that?

You might have the best placing possible, if you can't push that gear you will get "blown out". Or do you think Cancellara lacks racing tactics?

cancellara wasn't placed proper;y clearly or he would've been with the group. you only relay for 1 or 2 seconds. you don't need to be some kind of monster to do that because no rider in the world can ride etxreme speeds in wind for longer period of time. they would all blow. any reasonable pro can however keep the speed steady and hold that speed for 2 seconds before falling back into the echelon. echelons is all about placing and experience

You seriously think you only have to push at the top of an echelon? The hardest part is of course at the back.

My personal experience of group rides in the wind is that when people start echelons, you have to push a big gear to not open a gap and you have to hope that the guy in front of you is capable of also pushing that gear. If the gap opens you just might bridge once or twice with tremendous effort if you are able to push an even bigger gear and are willing to do so. ITT result shows that Cance is lacking a bit of form, probably due to his hassles in winter, hence not able to push the big gear long enough to maintain himself in the echelon or unable to bridge if it breaks in front of him
