Whatever his motives there is certainly no self hype which was the discussion :) Of Course he Wants to Win but he never says he can or will (self-hype) or even that he feels prepared to do so.
Actually, the only time he was self-hyping was last spring. The stories about his (low) form level during the Dauphine and record times on training climbs just before the Tour.
So, when he's self-hyping - that's certain sign something's wrong.

It would be better to throw broadcasting $$'s after this race than the Volta later in the year.

Will there be a ticker somewhere?

Well people here don't care about cycling in general and they only watch the Volta a Portugal more due to traditional reasons and because of it being in summer. Let alone te Volta ao Algarve. Only the fans care about such an event at this time of the year so the local TV thinks there isn't any profit from broadcasting the race (and there's not). Pehaps a better field would have attracted ES.

I agree that his best days are past him but he has been hyping himself as if that wasn't the case. So he should be judged by the standards he has been hyping himself too, and not by our expectations of his level.

the man earns in the millions a year has keep justifying that money, im sure tinkoff has plenty pressure on him too given what they pay him. Tinkoff expects people to earn their wage.

Yep, only hardcore cycling fans probably. Of course without broadcasting there is zero chance of expanding that fan base.

Volta a Portugal has the "national interest" status. Like Champions League final, Olympics, UEFA European Championship, FIFA World Cup (and more), Volta a Portugal must have coverage on national free tv. If any other is interested, RTP (the public tv channel) have to show it. Isn't a option.

For those who are interested, this ticker should be active. Site is very reliable.

classificacoes.net

It's in portuguese so make sure you have google translate opened in another tab.

Can't say for sure but this radio station may have something on the race these days. Check it tomorrow during the race.

wtf is wrong with you? you cant communicate like other normal people? You seriously need some help.

Personally ok with it. Would be really dull with total consensus and PC-ness.

Race situation:

after 34km, group with 3:30
Bruno Silva (Efapel-Glassdrive), Luís Afonso (LA Alumínios-Antarte), César Fonte (Rádio Popular), Valter Pereira (Banco BIC-Carmim) e Alexandr Pliuschin (SkyDive-Dubai).

Who says communicating in a proper tone has to be dull? Well, glad you not offended, and theres always the ignore button just in case...
