It was quite clear that the gap was bigger at the bend than at the end, so Contador was fastest at the end.

Actually pretty impressive that Contador outsprinted purito.

It's really hard though to measure how strong they are, especially because it's so cold.

He's 25 years old and has a top 5 Tour under his belt. He's not an explosive climber by any means, but being one of many busts on BMC last year shouldn't discount him from all future contention.

Doesn't mean he should be overhyped, but he's shown as much or more than a lot of overhyped riders here and in other places. He's still a young talent with a bright future ahead.

thats right he will win some great race, but he will never win a GT.(only if he kills - i mean really- all Colombians,Nibali,Pinot,Aru,Talansky and few others)

I dont know what the climber for you means, but for me its the guy who can climb multiple mountains in one stage, in high pace, responding to attacks to the best riders etc. ,this stage was just another mountain sprint, nothing else.

Climber = rider who is able to climb mountains very well?

"Mountain goats" aka. "real" climbers to some = teeny tiny riders rocking the show out of the saddle?

If you meant the latter, yes TJ isn't one. But a climber nonetheless, and a very capable one I might add.

Being serious though, Tejay really seems to have improved on his climbing this year. Being up there and now beating guys like Contador, Froome, Quitnana, and Purito shows some big improvements from him. Very good to see. :)

Or it´s because he don´t have to pull Evan´s azz around. He´s not "beating" guys like AC, Purito or Quintana, they just let him go, in their heads its already July :D

Very good indeed i this must be a huge boost in confidence, even if he did have a tactical advantage given his not iItalian/Spannish sounding name.

TJ obviously chose his moment well.
Others were nowhere in site when we saw the shot of the bend so to be right on his tail at the end they must have closed rapidly in the end.
Great win for him.

Based on what? His subpar Tour last year? There could be a number of factors that played into his lack of showing. He may not have responded well to the indecisions regarding who was riding for what on BMC.

I'm not saying he's the next Lucho, but it's still too early in his career to right him off as a total GC bust. The kid has a lot of potential. He reminds me of a young Bobby Julich: he may not win the Tour or the Vuelta, but he's got the talent to compete and hang with the best.

Do we know for sure which Garmin was 6th? Most seem to say Talansky: PCS has Dan Martin. TV interviewed Dan Martin.

Guess we wait for an official result, CQ has Martin too

Dude your talking nonsense course he can climb well , he would achieve no results else any1 who won today can climb well and im not even a fan of this boring rider but the guy can climb clearly. He was dropping his deadweight teamate in 12 then had a bad year last year. 25 thats all lol.
