Well I think there's 90% chance that at this time of the year this kind of weather is expected in the mountains. So if the organizers really want to have some exposure they have to use their brains. I know last year it was OK but it's a lottery.

Well, it might not be the organiser's fault, but indirectly this is again linked to the choice of route : going high up into the valleys and mountains in march, at the very beginning of spring. Had they stayed at lower altitudes, they could have done stages just as hard and not have had those problems or the worse one they had in 2012.

Hope they learn their lesson : drawing a route that brings all the big boys to the yard is great, but if everybody rides like they would rather be at home and there isn't an image for the TV, what's the use ?

well done guys. Hope next year you try having a hard and demanding route but going at 1500m tops.

"14:59:57 CET

We have word now that the break has crested the Rocabruna ascent ahead of the peloton, but its lead has now dropped to 40 seconds. Alberto Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo) led the chase over the category 1 KOM."

Apperently tinkoff was leading the peloton 5 minutes ago so i'm assuming Contador attacked then?

Not sure though

To date the coverage depended heavily on helicopters - so it makes sense they can't be used. Perhaps the moto's need the copter to communicate. Still they've got the finishline camera - they could at least put it up on a webcam for the likes of us.

Who know if Sky's yeti will emerge out of the mist & fog to be re-crowned padrone of the peloton?

No worry guys we'll miss this stage which appears to be really good but we'll get live full coverage of 4 hours on flat stages.

I curse myself being a cyclist fan

The CyclingNews ticker says he led the chase over the climb; I don't know if that means he actually attacked out of the group.

It's much more likely he led over the top so he more easily could grab a mussette or some clothing from a helper. Posting he took off in huge letters is pretty unhelpful - a lot of people follow CN race threads as often there's more info than offical tickers - let's not start making *** up for the sake of it....

I doubt Contador attacked that early. Still flat and false flat to go.

Besides we didn't get any confirmation on it while you would assume we already got some more news on it
