Movistar will pass the red jersey from one team mate to another until the end of Vuelta. Question is who will wear it last?

Unless something is dramatically wrong with Froome, he has a ITT coming up that he should absolutely dominate (amongst the GC candidates)

Yes, but I hope he can take so me more time on Froome before the first ITT.

That would only increase the pressure on Movistar to control the race on their home turf, which might not be the best strategy...

Well done Movistar, with Quintana looking very powerful.

Sagan vs Matthews for red jersey in the coming days.

That is assuming he (or Valverde) is wearing red.

I think Quintana will be stronger than Froome in the last week but the ITT is problematic, he needs maybe a minute on Froome before the first ITT. He might lose up to two minutes on Froome.

brutal movistar just like it was to be expected.
tinkov done pretty well with this team too
surprised as hell that betancur wasn't dropped right from the start and even managed to come with the front? drafting a lot but still...

valverde will be in red soon, nairito will just follow the moves but it will be enough. bala is old

Movistar win not surprising.. Sky looked weak, but maybe they just didn't take risks because Froome is afraid of crashing again.

Anyway, still relatively small differences.. so nothing really happened as expected.
Belkin did pretty well compared to Tinkoff/Sky/Katusha/Astana.. Kelderman will be happy

As for strategy, honestly the idea was to try and win the race! On such a tricky parcours we had six guys ride, and had Felline, Arredondo and Zubeldia sit on the back.

Err. Smart thinking to try and win the race with 1/3 of the team not contributing...

Arredondo wanst lucky at that crash in the Giro, as several riders, that stage that Evans take advantage.

Maybe for this year is too much to ride a GT, but it is a rider more like Valverde than Quintana, a rider really adapted to this parcours, so if he is lucky, and he has started very well, he could be a serious contender for GC.
