Of course his form isn't really bad. He went too early, but still was able to drop Quintana with his attack. And he finished 4th in a really strong field.

But he isn't at 100%, that's true. He's good some good form, but i think he will finish 4th or 5th this Vuelta. I just hope he can win a stage, just like last year.

Valverde super strong. Makes me wonder when he finally falter a bit. Right now, he's the best in this race. Froome and Contador also really good.

IMO, Purito attacked too early, otherwise looked good.

If he just followed the moves of the other guys, he would have finished in the same time as Valverde. I agree.

He would have not beaten him ofcourse.

The Froome I saw on the feed was not the Froome winning the TdF. He looked
tested by the pace on the climb. Maybe it's not his favorite kind of hill?

You've got your GC top-5 in there baring disaster. Quintana the likely winner with Contador likely being the only one to contest for first.

Agreed with mostly having top 5 and with Froome not being in best shape yet (maybe at all in this Vuelta).

How is Quintana the likely winner though? He already lost the time that he gained thanks for his team being the strongest in TTT (man, I dont like those. They look good but gaps are too big), and its hard to imagine Froome and Contador not putting time into him in TT. So his only chances are stage 16 and 20.

I think he went early,he is not overrated.

Purito got most votes in the poll about the stage win (21). 40% more than 2nd favorite (Froome with 15). Valverde who won the stage only got 4 votes.

That should tell you that Purito is overrated.

In what world is Quintana fav after today?. If anything a man who has the sort of Inj Contador would be a bigger fav. And Froome is also a tempo rider he did not look great yet he beat Quintana, so again how is Quintana a fav over Froome, with ITT to come.

impressive by Yates:eek:

edit: and what a top20 !

Very impressive. He really has got something. Give him and his brother 2 years and they could be anything. With Chaves as well OGE could completely transform themselves into a major GT GC team.

Well a lot of hype around a stage that was not that interesting. Talk about Tour fatigue and time to rebuilt form after injury.... LOL....

Happy about the lot of young guns showing that they are up there (aru, barguil, chaves, yates,...) confirming their potential

Barguil looked like he was dropped early but he managed his effort well. Good for him. Let's see what he can do in longer climbs.

So most people correctly predicted he wouldn't win the stage.

Its called being delusional.......
He can still win it of course if Contador, Froome and Valverde crack on stage 16 or 20 but a favorite? No way

So it looks like Contador and Froome have recoverd, This hill suited valverde well i dont expect him to challenge for 1st though unless is form has improved alot from the TDF.

Havent you heard? If your name is Quintana you can lose time but the automatic botresponse will be "he was a big winner today". He simply has no pressure and any demands whatsoever. Fanboys have done a massive job to build his reputation. Well done.

And yet we was to believe in the prelude that he would blow the field today (him or Dawg).

Nairo wont win this and dont complain now and then be disappointed when it actual happens.

Uran lets me down once more....:(

wasn't expect him to be with the best but conceding 1:08 on the first MTF isn't promising at all :(

You do realise that Valverde is the Spanish ITT champion, right?

I should recall you his performance in the TdF ITT to put into perspective what being Spanish ITT champion means

He's not overrated, he's just a cyclist who most people thinks he will win.

Why these negative attitude?

One can't judge Quintana on the sole evidence of today's performance... have to wait until stage 9 or so to make a judgement. He's still second in the GC and has excellent recovery so it's still very possible that he can win.
