It's a matter of respecting his teammates in order to get their respect. I mean, since Cunego didn't stand a chance at the overall why simply not leave him alone to his fate? What were those idiots Serpa and co. doing there with him until the final climbs? He was (is) disrespectful.

What a bunch of crap  Why should he waste energy for no result? Costa wasting energy working for Cunego would have made as much sense as AG2R having a leadout train for Pozzovivo. Besides Cunego definitively understands Costa, it's not like he has ever worked for anyone . . .

anyway lol Toni Martin:

That looks... painful.

How about Spilak nailing the ITT today? Either he's gotten a ton better at ITTs or these hills were more challenging than people thought (and therefore favored the climbers). With Pinot also in the top 10, I think the latter is definitely true. Probably a combination of both.

It was not their interpretation it was exactly what you were implying.

Don't insult your own intelligence by claiming otherwise.
Yes, it was their interpretation.
They could understand my comment like a praise to Contador's maturity, Tinkov's financial support and Riis' dedication, but they've chosen to interpret it in a way they have.
It more shows how they see their idol and the team management than what I've written.

The same reason his team will waste energy so he can fight for a 10th place in Le Tour?

It will be so amusing to see Costa, Ulissi and Cunego fighting and cooking each other on the Cauberg.

Luls poor Tony. That photograph will haunt him forever.

Spilak did well in lat year's TT eventually finishing 4th on GC, so not really a surprise. He was always a talent. :)

He was also fifth in last year's flat 18km Romandie TT, 40sec down on TM.

is that blood? O my.. that must be the price for being a top ITT rider in the world. Next time they should have him wearing a black pants or something.

off topic. while we are glowing about how the TDF might pan out after stunning performance by contador, a not so good news about Giant Shimano. They are under threat of possibility of loosing the sponsor. Poor these guys on the team.

Surely thats just Saint Brailsfords boss in a Hood.

To be fair, I think he looks like Brailsford a lot more. The low-lying open eyes, the elongated forehead, the nose and the mouth. Just much older of course.

Last year's TT saw Quintana 2nd overall; that was clearly a hilly affair. This turned out to be, but I think it was expected to be as vertically challenging as it ended up being.

That Romandie TT was nice work from Spilak, definitely the sort of thing that you can use as evidence to say he does a good ITT. I still think he's improving significantly though.
