He tried for a late stage win, yeah.
I agree that they don't have it. But to my way of thinking, that's all the more reason to use tactics over stength. All will be marked - perfect!

What kind of tactics should they use? I'm not arguing, just genuinely interested

Maybe something like they tried at le tour 2012 when tj escaped early and evans made the attempt to bridge to him? Sammy could be a good candidate to have up the road. I thought saxo looked abit delicate at times yesterday, i bet contador would be forced to do some work himself.

I dunno... Im no expert

Easier said than done for anyone around a minute back to get in the break, other breakaway riders would not be too happy and it wouldn't be only Tinkoff that would be unhappy, Movistar would also chase

Movistar driving the peloton now while Plaza is in the break. Valverde must be on to something.

Any idea when does GPS arrive at País Vasco?

So according to Paulo Martins Valverde and Contador are like best friends off the bike. Can anyone confirm this?

Well, they've a better chance at a stage win from a GC group with Valverde than they do with Plaza in that super strong break.

Sure, but it would be quite silly if they just reel in the break and then Valverde finishes it off in the sprint.

I don't think I saw any Trek-guys in there? Did anybody spot a Schleck (or two) or Kiserlovski?

Was thinking maybe on the penultimate descent.
