Travesty?
LOL,
I'll tell you what is a travesty, Colombia not having a World Tour race. Now that is a travesty!
More bicycles per household that you ever see in the US.
We have a local competition with so many races than in itself have Sevilla not needing to go out of the country. LOL big time!

Well, at least we have a Colombian favorite to win this race. We have a decent stage. :)

I think most cycling fans will agree with you. We all would like to see a race in Colombia a country were actually a huge crowd will show up. A country that supplies great quality riders.

No... Instead we have a race in Abu Dhabi.

Yes, Colombia would be great. If they want to have a race in the Middle east Iran would be a good option, they have a big domestic scene and people there actually care about cycling, now that the sanctions against Iran could be lifted ASO or RCS could try to host a race in Iran.

45°C in the desert today. That's 9°C above body temperature. Just saying... #weatherprotocol

tell that to the Uci, RCS and the Sheiks

the guy gets paid big time to go there. He knew it will be hot there when he accepted the money. He definatly should not complain about the weather

You think these riders get paid individually by the organisation to go to Abu Dhabi? The teams get paid to send good riders and I guess they will give the riders some kind of bonus, but I very much doubt they will get paid 'big time'.

Cycling needs to go global and generate more revenue. It should be sold to some private equity firm which would then install a new leadership that can truly take the sport to the next level. You need some competence at the top, so I was thinking of an all-star team consisting of:

-Oleg Tinkov (cycling expertise)
-Bernie Ecclestone (getting huge money from dictatorships expertise)
-Richard Scudamore (getting huge money from TV expertise)
-Barry Hearn (making boring sports fun with promotion gimmicks expertise)
-Roger Gooddell (tackling legal controversies expertise)

They'd deliver a great ROI

Chaves to win this bike race, and then we all go home and forget this race actually exist.

Then 2 months watching some old races from the 90's on your PC and cyclocross in your spare time, and when January arrives twisting like a little kid because San Luis and Down Under will come ;)

Cyclocross? Meh. Thats the NBA-season for me..

I just finished the 2001-Tour featuring Sherwy and Liggett. They have like 8 hours material on 4 separate discs on youtube, thats not bad either.

There could be riots amongst the thousands of fans on the finishing circuit when they find out they are only going to see the riders go past once.

"It's almost like they are springing up before your eyes"

"Quite frankly, we are wondering why things don't get done this quickly in the United kingdom"

Carlton Kirby needs to do less speaking and more thinking
