Yes he did. He must be in great shape. He broke his aero handle bars (dont know what else to call them) after 2 k in the tt and had to ride the rest of it in the drops and still finished only 2 secs down on Felline.

Peraud is a very good rider, one that can beat Pinot on a MTF. But not this way. Letting him take a 40 seconds gap and then almost closing it in 1.5km.

Gutsy ride from Felline, who manages to podium the overall. Big step up this year.

Bottom line, Pinot's half attack exposed him to a counter attack. Not smart. Probably over confident. I liked his last 2K though, when he went all out. I don't understand the anti-Pinot comments, "overrated for years" ebing the dumbest when the guy hasn't been around "for years". The field may not have been spectacular (although two TdF podium guys isn't too shabby ) but it's early in the season and so far Pinot is faring quite well. This time last year Nibali hadn't done much either. July will tell.

The problem with Pinot is he's been doing a lot of these "half attacks" and then looks back, seemingly asking for someone to help him or complaining when someone doesn't. Someone should tell him that he's a TDF Top 3 finisher and should take full responsibility when he attacks.What was particularly bad about Sunday is that he had a teammate pulling hard when he went for it and made little damage.

Agree that he didn't have to half-attack when he did. He knew that the last 2-3K were harder and more suited to him. The turning around also bothers me. He was back within 40 meters of JCP and waited for someone to relay, no one did, and before long JCP was 40 seconds ahead. And then, he thought about not losing time bonus on the line if he couldn't quite come back. Too much thinking. Almost like he flashed back to last year's TdF, when he pulled alone behind Nibbles, only to have Piti scr*w him in the final 300m. I'd be curious to know what his DS was saying in the earpiece, if anything...

to me he seemed in a bad day, i've seen him on the last climb on tv looking very bad, breathing hard while cannondale was pushing the pace
but he scrrewed it up like a boss when he decided to attack with 7 km to go instead of waiting

True. He didn't look that good. And he knew he had to create a gap to win the overall. Yes, he should have waited instead of launching a half a$$ed attack that had "counter" written all over it. The gaps were insignificant and guys like JCP were still in it. Yet, his last 2-3K were quite strong. His ITT was good. His plan is to peak in July. He can do better than most GC guys in the small ITT. The TTT could turn out to be huge. In the mountains, he's still one notch below Berto, Nairo, or a '14 TdF Nibbles, or Froome (the good one, not the "sick" one). I can't wait man, I can't wait. I hope Gallopin wins the Ronde BTW
