I don't know. That was an extremely difficult race. They got into the bitter end and played it well with Paolini just better.

In the interview he said that he crashed twice and had to change his bike, the guy is such abeat and really deserved a big win after working so hard for Kristoff in M-S.

Your sitting on your sofa , they have just rode a brutal race. They did well to have 2 riders in the mix.

Looking back to the way he bridged to the group, that was some tactical masterpiece. I thought he would start chasing fro Kristoff, but this played out perfectly. In the post-race interview he said this is his biggest career win. He said riders were not even sure if they should continue racing at one point, after some were blown by the wind. And then added: "this is the North, this is the real cycling".

Still can't believe Etixx tactics. But maybe it's all about Vanderbergh's brain. The moment Paolini went, he should have started chasin, end of story. Terpstra was clearly the favorite to win.

Chapeau to all the riders for this wonderful race, will easily end up as one of the best of the year. Roelandts a hero.

I think this is a ridiculous assessment if you watched the entire race. Vandenbergh buried himself well before the final KM's, and had nothing left to give, but kept his team in the race the entire last 70K. Paolini was just smarter than everyone else, but I don't see this as a fail by Etixx.

As far as fails go, Saxobank is the big looser. You have to be in a position to win, and at least Etixx got that far. Saxo. Oss keeps BMC off the fail train, while every other team just don't have the strength..

Vandenbergh had nothing left and when Terpstra tried anything he realised that Thomas would just use him for a free ride. Hard to fault Etixx today, imo, they just weren't good enough.

I don't know. That was an extremely difficult race. They got into the bitter end and played it well with Paolini just better.

Agree, no real mistakes by the HotSteppers today.
Almost anybody could have won if the chips landed slightly different.

Did we watch the same race? When Paolini went, there's no rider in the peloton who could do what you suggest, if they'd ridden as much as Vandenbergh already had. Ridiculous.

This is why I like the one-day races. Stage racing is largely a static formula.

Not a ton of wins in recent races, but they sure got a lot of WT points the last few weeks. Uran scoring points he did not at Tirreno or Catalunya last year, Kwiatkowski 2nd at Paris-Nice, 2nd and 3rd at E3 and today 2nd and 4th again.

Luca Paolini- what a warrior!!!! well deserved victory. Katusha should give him more freedom instead of burning him for Kristoff one-pony trick racing style.

Why can't Etixx get them organized when they're up in numbers? shame on them.
