Astana might not ride the Giro if they are stripped of there licence regardless of an appeal

Astana could appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), but legal officials have said Astana would not automatically have the right to carry on racing while the tribunal comes to a decision.

Who's the first reserve PC team?
there is no reserve... there's no way they can just throw a whole team out of the Giro, 2 weeks before the start.

The same team was added less than a week before the start in 2008 I assume they can kick them out with more time.

Adding a team is economically far less damaging than removing one, you know.

I know I was speaking logistically. Could UHC or Colombia replace Astana on short notice if worst comes to worst or would they race with 21 teams?

Regardless of what "worst" can come out, Astana won't be kicked out of the Giro, licence or not.
I suppose that theoretically you could find a replacement team in two weeks, but it would be a logistical nightmare.

Astana boss Martinelli in @Gazzetta_it on Nibali: "I am convinced this is the year to attempt Giro-Tour double.. ..I've analysed this a lot"

Come on nibali do it. This is like contador in '11, he wasn't sure if he could ride the tour so just do giro.

Would be great for the race otherwise it was most likely gonna be a borefest unless Porte is full *** or if contador sucks.

So are they trying to make us believe it's possible to go for the double simply on a whim 2 weeks before the Giro?

it's true : how is possible that?
Contador is preparing the double from last year and sure, it's like a mission impossible to be competitive in both races. Now Nibali will try the double? so out of hand , without adequate preparation?! it's a kind of joke?!

in doing so there is a very high risk of failure both goals

Would be a borefest anyway,Nibali is absolutely unprepared (unless this was planned lol) and will be trashed, and then tire for Tour. This would be like worst decision of the year

Maybe some rumours leaked and they know they won't be invited to the Tour. Would make plenty of sense to put all the eggs in one basket at the Giro.

That's the only plausible explanation they know something about TDF participation, else is *** to send Nibali in Giro,a guy who's focused his preparation for TDF.

I'd guess the three stages are the ITT, Mortirolo and Finestre, but surely Cervinia is important as well, and there's still several stages where there will be gaps between the favourites.
Either Martinelli hasn't even taken a look at the route, or he is an idiot. Hopefully he'll read my stage analysis before it's too late

They are doing the Tour. The organisers won't want the defending champion to miss out. The tour is basically locked, regardless of what happens due to Nibali winning it last year.

Nibali better not do the Giro because he won't beat Contador. All Contador needs to do is have a nice lead after the first week and then he doesn't have to do much for the next 2 because there's no team there that could cause Tinkoff and him troubles. Aru and Porte won't challenge him for the pink jersey. The Giro is Contador's unless he crashes out.
