Yesterday a local newspaper mentioned that the finish in Vicenza will be followed by a stage starting in Montecchio Maggiore. If that's true we should re-shuffle the second week again, in a way I don't fully understand. maybe removing one between Forli and Imola, moving Vicenza on stage 11 and having the mistery of stage 14 back in the mix.
EDIT: On stage 9 we have mountain passes rumoured! Monte Taburno and Bocca della Selva, according to a local newspaper

Bocca della Selva is either 19 km or 30 km long. The longer side is very easy ( 3-5 % the whole time) the 19 km version would be nice:

Taburno is even better. Good vine comes from there and both sides are pretty difficult for just a "hilly" stage:

Regarding stage 9: Bocca della Selva from the difficult side would be good. 19 km with 6-8% and a couple of false flats. Other side is 30 km with 3-5 % the whole climb.

Taburno even better:

The other side from Cirignano is even a bit harder, more average gradient and more sections around 10% while 1 km shorter.

If they do both climbs it could almost another mountain stage? Don't know how far away they are from the finish.

They're pretty far, but on the way there's room for other good hills, although they are easier.

BREAKING NEWS

new rumours from a well known (and reliable) user in an Italian forum. The guy works for Tuttosport so he's pretty believable:

- the Viterbo stage may be dropped. In its place, stage 7 will go directly to or nearby Frosinone, longest stage of the race.
- From Frosinone, there will be a MTF on stage 8. Still unclear where. But if Torre del Greco is involved, then it's the Vesuvio.
- The Vicenza stage will be stage 12, after Forlì and Imola. After that, Montecchio - Jesolo and the ITT which would be stage 14 and could go up to 60 kms (! - someone wake Bavarianrider up)

Shortest way from Grosseto to Frosinone is around 265k, if you go directly through Roma and they won't do that. So we are talking about 280 or 290k here. I don't think this will happen.

TT of 60k could also be interesting. From Treviso it is 37k to Valdobbiadene. Maybe they add a nice loop into the steep wine hills.

Indeed, they'll probably go somewhere near it, not all the way to Frosinone

It looks like the parcours could be a truly amazing one. 2mtf's in the first 9 days with a couple of hilly stages, a 60km tt in the second week, so it's not that backloaded. Couple of truly brutal stages in the last week and some nice hilly hilly stages in the first two and I'm very happy with the route.

Now all that has to happen is a l'Aquila

If next years route is going to a be a good route I hope they will use Pradaccio before Abetone and Zuccore and Panthaleon before Cervinia. In addition to throwing in a couple of climbs before Mortirolo on the stage to Aprica.

so, here are my picks for the mountain passes... some are based on actual rumours, others are just guesses.

stage 5: Passo Pradaccio (I want to believe). I expect a super short stage (120- kms)

stage 8: Sella del Perrone before the MTF. 180ish kms

stage 9: Bocca della Selva, Monte Taburno, and a couple of minor hills before the finish. 170 kms

stage 16: Croce Domini, Mortirolo S, Piscina, S. Cristina. 180 kms

stage 18: Alpe Segletta. 160 kms

stage 19: La Colma, TzeCore and S.Panthaleon. (latest rumours say this stage may have 4-5 climbs... so I put the TzeCore in). 210+ kms

stage 20: Colle di Lys and Finestre. 210 kms

So flat until Finestre? :(

edit: Hadn't seen the post above mine.
With Moncenisio in it would get 228 kms... nothing unheard of, but unlikely imo.

So if those kms are true I don't understand what are they doing on the way to Aprica.

The ITT of 59 kms :) Finally

EDIT: and three stars to Abetone means no Pradaccio :(

Maybe Tonale-Gavia-Mortirolo-Aprica?

edit: that's ~180km.
