But I hope to see Fauniera finally :p

Me too, obviously. In 2001 the stage (that was not to be) looked like this:

Even better would be the Fauniera-Sampeyre combo. I would actually prefer that to Finestre, because we haven't seen that for so long. I agree that Moncenisio is a must on the Finestre stage.

Oops, forgot Zomegnan's not in charge anymore.

My dreams of a stage from Tolmezzo to Sulden over Zoncolan, Crostis, Cimasappada, Passo Sant'Antonio, Tre Croci, Giau, Fedaia (Fedaia!), Costalunga, Lavazè, Mendola, Tonale, Gavia and Stelvio must wait...

1. map that stage
2. Call Ricco, tell him he'll be famous if he does it
3. Give him 10 blood bags and more stuff and a google glass
4. enjoy:D

Looks like the Giro will start in Sanremo, with a TTT to S.Lorenzo a Mare. On stage 2, the finish will be in Genova (they waited for me to leave... :( ), then stage 3 through the Cinque Terre.

As a Ligurian, I can only say it's awesome.

According to savonanews.it and cittadellaspezia.com, this should be the beginning of the 2015 Giro:

Stage 1: ITT Sanremo
Stage 2: Albenga > Genova
Stage 3: ??? (possibly Chiavari) > La Spezia

Stage 4 will most likely be raced in Tuscany.

yep. So they say, and it looks more and more a done deal.
I'm very curious about stage 2. If they want, there are plenty of awesome options for a finish in Genova. There are also dull ones, so I'm a bit worried too.

Yes, there's definitely the potential for a very interesting stage on day 2 and/or 3. The shortest route between Albenga and Genova is slightly over 90 kms and the shortest between Chiavari and La Spezia is about 70 kms. So, there's plenty of room to add some climbs in the internal regions. It would be a shame to start with 2 dull flat stages.

On july 29th they'll make it official, but until now everything points towards a start like this:
Sanremo - San Lorenzo A Mare TTT
Albenga - Genova
Chiavari - La Spezia

As mentioned, the very short distances between starts and finishes are very promising. Let's hope we get proper hills. Even a city circuit in Genova could be fairly hilly.

Otoh, on an Italian forum they claim they're already working to resurface the Pradleves side of the Fauniera... if that's true (I don't have first hand infos there) we'll have the S.Anna Di Vinadio 2001 re-stage at 100%.

In the first week they'll probably go all the way south ending in Calabria, and most likely they'll have a big transfer to start the 2nd week somewhere in the north-east.

What's wrong with it as it is? Perhaps to the narrow side higher up, but so what?

apparently there was a landslide some time ago and the last kms are not raceable right now.

So something like this as worst case scenario for the last part of stage 3? (linking Sestri Levante, Carro, Levanto, le Cinque Terre, La Spezia and a loop with Biassa) If so it's going to be a good stage no matter what :)

I'd say the worst case would be if they climb Biassa from the road entering town from east and descend directly to the south (so they don't climb the whole pass, but only up to the town itself). Even so, it would be definitely a good stage.
