At least Colli is in good spirits!

Having seen the horror photo of his arm I'd have predicted permanent damage. Good to see.

Idiotic from Brailsfraud. If it was Richie with a broken arm or dislocated shoulder he'd say different things.

By the way, as someone on twitter mentioned, this is all very funny considering Sky always shield off or fence off the fans from their riders

BUMP.

Total douche statement from Brailsford. Douchier then that mortard Boston Bruins NESN announcer Jack Handy...

Sprint finishes shouldnt even be in cycling. Biggest waste of time. Go to the track

I agree.....never liked them!!!

Yes sure.

And I think the idea of taking time at the 3 or 10 km mark for CG contenders is also too risky. Imagine the guys would fight it out there to get the last touch on the peloton... Better would be to take the time at the 50 km mark, and everybody takes a break for lunch, says hello to the helicopter guy... hell no, skip cycling all together. How about that?

My opinion? If a race is 150 km long and finishes after 150 km, it should end there. For everybody.
As some lone quality poster said: It´s the fault of CG guys wanting to be "safe" at the front.... Just have a look at GT flat stages. Seldom is there a gap for the last 50 riders of the peloton. And if it is, it´s once or twice per GT.

A hilly stage sure, but pancake flat stage where 10km more racing doesnt matter at all besides huge pile ups ... NO.

You know why the GC riders are up front? Because in the past there have been examples that lost out due to splits etc.

Yeh it would have made sense if he said that the fans should all be put atleast 2 metres from the course everywhere.....

I agree with you. You might take some of the danger posed by the sprint trains out of the equation by taking GC at 3kms, but you'd be adding a whole new element of nervousness at that point. Racers will always find something to fight over. Not to mention damaging the spectacle of a full peloton coming into the home straight. Racing is racing, from start to finish.

IMO there is progress to be had in improving the barriers. Barriers erected at an angle to keep fans at arms length, double barriers, etc.

Fair Play to Davide Formolo in that sprint, he took a huge hit on the shoulder but stayed upright, preventing a much worse accident and finishing 9th.
