Are you surprised? When on Earth did he showed something in this Giro that showed he would ride like a beast today? He was finished yesterday.

Or is this his bad day? :D

I would say the fact he could stay with Aru and Contador while his strongest discipline in the Time Trial suggested he would probably be in the top 3 today, if he didn't win it. Clearly he won't even get near that, but it wasn't such a stretch to expect that before the events of the last few days.

Maybe this will make Porte realise he isn't a GC rider

Careful, he is the top GC rider ... for one-week stage races. nothing to be ashamed of, many, many riders will never come near that. The problem isn"t his talent, it's the over-inflated hope that his level of success would keep going straight up.

Good news for Porte fans is that he'll now have a great chance to stay with Contador and Aru during their fight tomorrow'

I don't like Porte but don't knock Porte's time until you see Contador's, Uran's etc. The wind is probably up like people are saying!

Until Contador and co go through, you don't know where he is.
True, let's wait and see. Porte actually doesn't look too bad on the bike.

Not really. Porte's time doesn't really stand out against the riders who started before him.

Exactly what I was thinking. Not gonna comment on Porte's time till I see the rivals.

Poor little Formolo :(. Hopefully he learns to ITT.

Nothing to do with his TT skills..crashed hard yesterday..can't keep any aerodynamic position..etc..

Check his TT from Suisse one year ago if you say he can't TT.

He stayed with them on fairly easy stages the first week of the Giro. He has ridden passively
