This is the tour 2010 again. With that last ITT, the wind also changed and everyone had a shitty time except menchov

Yup Porte's Giro is over. No idea if it's physical or mental, but he's broken.

Physical. Yesterday qouted:

" I can't pedal. My knee is ****** "

Seems to be pedaling fine. Just can't pedal fast enough. If he couldn't pedal, there would be no point in starting the stage.

Porte needs to work on his cadence.

I think Wiggins and Lance can help with that. And some pointers from Chris Comical would probably be a plus as well.

Chris who? Everyone knows it was Tim Kerrison that invented high cadence. Before he came along in 2011 everyone just rode the same cadence and gears and bikes.

I don't like Porte but don't knock Porte's time until you see Contador's, Uran's etc. The wind is probably up like people are saying!

Until Contador and co go through, you don't know where he is.
True, let's wait and see. Porte actually doesn't look too bad on the bike.

Not really. Porte's time doesn't really stand out against the riders who started before him.

That's because they had better conditions. My money is there is a head wind.

Poor little Formolo :(. Hopefully he learns to ITT.

Nothing to do with his TT skills..crashed hard yesterday..can't keep any aerodynamic position..etc..

Check his TT from Suisse one year ago if you say he can't TT.

I didn't know he was in the crash yesterday. Oh great that he Can ITT, I like him :). Bright young talent!

Are you surprised? When on Earth did he showed something in this Giro that showed he would ride like a beast today? He was finished yesterday.

Or is this his bad day? :D

I would say the fact he could stay with Aru and Contador while his strongest discipline in the Time Trial suggested he would probably be in the top 3 today, if he didn't win it. Clearly he won't even get near that, but it wasn't such a stretch to expect that before the events of the last few days.

He stayed with them on fairly easy stages the first week of the Giro. He has ridden passively

Ow I wasn't saying he was as good as them, but most of the time there were 3 (once Uran got healthy 4) riders at the front of the race, and Porte was one of them, which means he's at least top 5 in the mountains.

If he's top 3-5 in the high mountains you'd expect him to be top 3-5 in the time trials as well.

The fact he's not near that (if it's not just the wind) means something is wrong, more than him not being good enough, either mental issues or physical.

But like others are saying, let's hold off on any conclusions, because there are more and more reports that the wind changed.

Last minute update: VDB is almost a minute ahead of Porte, now he's a good time trialist himself, but being that far behind VBD is worrying to say the least.
