Hitch, what is your prediction for tomorrow?

I'll see how I feel in the morning, but right now, my gut tells me Contador will win or at least beat all the gc riders. Forget all the "contador is good at short tts, Contador is crap at long tts, he's x at x tt's", with Contador imo its all about strength. When he's on good form he does well in tts, when he's on bad form he flops.

TT's aren't pure science anyway, and you can't just predict them based on previous tt results like some people try.

And the stage is about strength. Its been a very hard Giro. A lot of riders very tired. Especially gc riders. TT is the race against truth. You can't do a great one if you are too tired. If Contador is the freshest in the race, as most think he is, he has a great chance to win. The hills aren't steep but they are hard enough, to help him a little too.

He will want to stamp his authority on the race. The second weekend is always when he does this (Plateau de Beile, Verbier, Gardeccia, La Farrapona). Even more here since he wants an easier last week. 1 and a half hours of pain and be done with it.

Also if Bertie is serious about Giro-Tour double, I think that means he is super strong like back in 2009. 09 Contador wins this tt easily, maybe by 2 minutes. He won't be on top top strength since he needs to save a little for the Tour, but imo he has enough.

On vera.

A shame you didn't bet on the right guy though :)

Shame Aru took pink yesterday. Maybe we could've seen Contador pass him. 2:47 down

Aru probably would have done better in the TT with Conador behind him.

Uran will win stage and move to 2nd in the GC. Will be closer to Contador time wise and people will start to say he has a chance, but he will fail in the big mountains. Good for him to get a stage win though.

GC after ITT:
1. Contador
2. Uran
3. Cataldo (if he is allowed to put in a full effort)

Assuming the gaps between starts is three minutes, Contador will not catch Aru, but he will see him towards the end. So Aru will finish 2:45-2:55 down on Contador.

Never mind that bit now, similar time though and Contador will catch Landa.

Very good performance by Aru finishing close to Uran...its just that Contador was here too

We know he's a good TTer so that takes care of it, very disappointing.

Monster ride by Contador. It looked like the weather conditions changed for the GC guys. If that is correct then Contador was the strongest of them all.

Chapeau Kiri. Very well deserved, that was a spectacular ride. It's a shame we have to see him waste some of his best years riding in the wind for Sky. :(

Kiry's bank account disagrees with you :p

Lol, how can people say Alberto would have won if not for the wind change? Look at the freaking road map, it's not 60k in one and the same direction  maybe the wind was favourable for him in the 2nd part, who knows.. it's impossible to say really.

ugh. whinging by everyone but Porte, Libertine. didnt involve himself once in the controversy. can't see yet a single instance in which he's himself been less than professional or otherwise. bizarre really: no wonder the pros and others involved in the industry view this place as bit of a joke.
Just because he didn't open his mouth that much about this incident doesn't mean people can't have different interpretations to yours of his attitudes, words and behaviours at other times, and it also doesn't mean that it isn't irritating having to argue all the points against many blinkered fans who want the rules bent in favour of their favourite. Are you saying you've never felt a bit of antipathy towards somebody because of the behaviour of their fans, such as you don't actually dislike the person but want the fans to shut up?

Also: Richie exemplifies Sky's style of racing. He's mighty talented, but so was Levi Leipheimer. He's not exciting, so fans don't enjoy watching him race. Like Gerrans, races that he wins tend to exemplify less interesting GC races, so people dislike that and don't want to see that template succeed, because the more it succeeds, the more people will copy it, and the more boring GC races we will see.

respectfully disagree. can't recall a time in while he did something which would really put people off him personally (getting sick? wanting to be a team leader?). also, people loved indurain didn't they? its not like this style of rider is something new to the sport. its just disappointing here the kind of purile responses you get here about particular riders for what seems to be no reason. sometimes I wonder if the average age of posters is 14, but then I forget this is the Internet.

Ugh. You need to grow thicker skin. No rider gets a free pass. Every rider has his detractors and gets talked about (one of my favorite riders is one of the most disliked). Honestly, your responses have been more childish than anything I've seen written about Porte.

Anyway, I think Porte's crash may have affected him a bit today.

Yea I had much more hope for him, but apparently he just doesn't have it.

Contador putting Aru in his place, lesson learnt: don't take the leaders jersey from Contador.

Just out of curiosity. What was Aru supposed to do? Sit and wait for Contador and lose time on everyone else? He didn't exactly attack he just rode to the finish after a massive crash as quickly as he could.
