They're riding fairly early, aren't they? Normally those US-races are around midnight my-time.

They've started fairly early, 9:20 MST but there's probably more to it than just that. I can't find an explanation.

Is Utah quite a bit further east than California?
And I'm guess I'm so used to only getting the last part of a stage/race, so I was expecting them to be nearing the finish.

It's 1 hour difference in time zones to California if I remember correctly.

Could be something simple as road closures.

Stages 5,6 and 7 are finishing a bit later, normally iirc ToC, ToU and Colorado tend to finish about 22:30-23:00 in the UK. So the first four stages are about an hour earlier going by the estimated finish time.

I love that they're showing the women's crit. I've got some friends riding in it, so it's good to see them turning cranks in anger.

EDIT: I do want to buy the cameraman a rag, though.

It's a few hundred miles east of California. One time zone later.

Maybe California starts later because its so hot?

Northern Utah gets plenty hot. We've already spent many days at around 105+ degrees Fahrenheit.

I love this race and can't wait for it to start. I'm still considering going with a buddy that's definitely going. Hopefully I can report from one of the climbs, we'll see.

Team up with mr. tibbs and maybe Moose McKnuckles whom I trust will set up the CNF Go Papi Horner banners and road tags atop the Empire Pass.

Today should be interesting. It's been raining all night and this morning. Scattered t-storms for the Logan-Bear Lake area.

Kind of an exposed area, so winds can be an issue.

Should see a big difference in the next few days, as the sunshine and heat are set to return.
