There was a group finish in 2011. Cav won that year.

Boonen, Freire (3 times), Cipo, Bettini, Vainšteins, even Ballan's attack broke up what would have been a bunch.

The last hour of the race should be good

I don't understand a circuit course for WC Road. I could see doing a few laps to end the race, but this is ridiculous. Shouldn't the race be 250K give or take a some kilometers? So 13-15 laps on the same course:confused:

Most Worlds courses have 100km or so then circuits. The circuits are closed off and tickets are sold, hence the Worlds being the #1 revenue generator for the UCI

Does anyone know how much it cost to watch the Worlds at the finish line? I've been looking around a little but I haven't seen any actually cost.

About 100 Euros. Each year is different. I have been to some where large portions of the route are closed off and some sections are $10

Nice little climb. 50 seconds of effort for that guy so probably more like 35/40 seconds for the pro, but still it will hurt the legs. I don't think the other cobbled climb (the straight one) was used was it ?

does anyone have a tentative list of who will be racing in this event?

It is way too early to know. Each country will get a specific number of riders based on results this year. Then, is the weeks before the race, each country will announce who is riding for them.

I'm afraid those climbs are far too short to do anything

repetitin my friend is the key : repetition of short climbs, repetition of 90? turns "criterium style" where placement is really important... If riders have to repeat that route 12/14/15 times, this is going to hurt... If there is some sort of introduction course and only 5 or 6 times the circuit, than it becomes a lot weaker.

But the last 4 kms are pretty nasty : no let up and teammates can only help so much when it's up and down and turns...

To anwer Gimondi's question, we of course don't know who will ride it yet since it's the national team's coaches who will select their riders !

Who is here is planning on heading to Richmond? I have been searching the area for a while now. It appears unless your hotel is right next to the course you're going to have a little bit of a trip to get to the event. I haven't been able to find any hotels that will be shuttling guests to the race. So, question for those who are not staying right next to the race, how are you planning on getting to the race? Is hoping for a cab going to be the best/only option? I will not have my bike.
