No opening TTT it seems. Wind conditions forcing RCS to change it to an individual prologue.

Official change for @TirrenAdriatico. For meteo reasons, first stage won't be a team time trial, but an individual crono-prologue (5,4 km)

What's wrong with doing TTT with strong wind?
The wind could blow Team Colombia away. :D
No, i don't have any idea why they'd do that but I always like prologues, way better than a TTT.

I don't know.
I can tell you the wind has been brutal for days now. In some towns most trees have been damaged or even fallen.

Yeah, it already looked brutal in Strade. Heard it came from Balkan?

I think a lot of teams really wanted to practise their TTT here ahead of the Tour.

Not because tomorrow is windy, but for the damages caused this last days

Wouldn't it have been possible to make an alternative TTT route then? :O

Yes, the teams even asked RCS to make the TTT longer than last years.

From what I've heard there are still several blocked roads.

Tinkoff must feel cheated. They brought a brilliant TTT team because Riis thinks it might be decisive because of small gaps on Terminillo. And now it's been replaced with another ITT.

This is even more true for Movistar. They would have rocked the TTT.

lol florry. if you are strong, terminillo is more than enough to put one minute into everyone else

I don't know, Movistar was 6 seconds ahead of Tinkoff last year and Tinkoff have a better team this year and Movistar a slightly worse team (no Dowsett)

Are you saying Bjarne is clueless about cycling:eek:

looking at the profile, you either have to attack far out or in the last 2.5km. In 2.5km it's very hard to get a minute :)o), and if you attack from 6-7km out there's 3 basically flat km from 5.5 to 2.5 to go which benefits a chasing group.

(I think)

Arredondo and Pozzovivo , where is Dani Diaz when you need him?:D
I hope that Quintana will arrive with good form.

Should be interesting to compare Nairo and Alberto: they kind of swapped schedules since last season so maybe Nairo is better than Alberto because he's going for the Tour, like Alberto last season?

I'm definitely hoping Quintana is good. Does anyone know if there is any reason to doubt his form? My personal guess is he should be fine....

he's nowhere near top form though, he is focussing solely on tour and vuelta afterwards. no earlier goals than that

I concur with Jens.
Terminillo this early in the season is enough to put a minute into everybody if Contador is as good as he showed in Ruta del Sol.
Not a climb to underestimate.

Terminillo is a HC climb:

vzbvdlzcco4ggwo8cg08wwg-terminillo_vazia_profile.gif

They ride until Campoforogno (1675 m)

17 km 6.78 % if we take the whole climb.
If we discount the last almost flat km and the first one (2.9%), we have 15 km with an average of 7.36 %.
There is also another flat km in the middle of the climb. For most part, the gradients are between 7 and 9%.

A perfect climb to make the difference.
