Quintana seems to be struggling.
He doesn't have to be that close to Dennis though. I highly doubt even Froome will do a time like that - when the big climbs come, if he's good enough, he'll be able to make the difference.

Yeah, 29 seconds behind halfway through isn't really that bad. The other of the big four are probably also gonna be a decent bit behind Dennis.

Solid by Yates.

Well, Simon Yates himself said that he wouldn't lose time in GC "on purpose", but he expected the time differences in the top20-30 would be enough to allow him to go stage hunting in the mountain stages.

I think it's a wise decision not to put any pressure on them and just see where it takes them this year.

Massive talents no doubt.

If Contador does a really good ITT, then good choice by quintana cause he was gonna get caught.

nvm he isn't at 1:30 like some poster said.

Not bad

Talking the party line at the team press conference.

They have never dropped time and gone for stages in their life so have no idea how to ride other than 100% and see what happens. If one of them gets through the cobbles unscathed I'd expect them up there for a while.

Alright time by Nairo in the end. Expected him to lose a bit more than that after seeing his intermediate

No big deal if Quintana loses a minute if you ask me. Normally it would be a big deal because it would mean he would also lose time in the longer tt to come.

This TDF having this ridiculous nonesensical parcours, I think some riders may have just focused 100% on climbing and said too hell with spending too much time on the tt set up to save 10 seconds in a short tt.

Not bad from Quintana. Dennis' time is just amazingly fast, and the parcours is horrible for Nairito today. Pure power-course.
