Chapeau to Roche for the oddest performance of the day: after each cobbled section, with his face increasingly covered in dust, he randomly appeared from nowhere to lead Thomas and Froome to the next section.

This was not a brilliant stage but come on there was real racing, Nibali tried to gain time, Froome tried to gain time. Contador and especially Quintana survived only just survived to stay with the other two. Without Sagan perhaps they would not have made it back.
Some people are very harsh on the quality of racing.

No one able to make a difference... Froome was impressive, he even dropped Nibali on the last pave I think.

Contador and Quintana was as expected.

A little disappointed that not even the PR riders could do anything.

Few riders were better sprinters than Tony Martin, so I am surprised that they let him go!!!

If contador did not have the strength he would not have been up in that group, this was successful day for contador today, he rode fine, besides isn't that Sagan's job? To look after Contador.

There will be some sprinter that will look back and say, "this was obvious, why didn't I/we plan for this."

Then again, maybe they wanted Tony to win!

Second stage was a disaster. Without rain this was expected. No rain, no gain.

I think if Boom and Grivko didn't have mechanical that it might be been possible for him to gain time.
