Hilarious to see people acting like Katusha are the underdog. They lead the world tour and have won the most WT races of any team.
What are you talking about? Nobody has been treating Katusha like an underdog. Nothing like beating around the bush, yes Katusha is having a great season. I don't think you'll get any arguments there...

People saying them beating Sky is great for cycling as if they don't have a monster budget and highly questionable ''ethics''.
Could it be that people just think more highly of Spilak (given his record of podium/near-win results in one week stage races in recent years)?

The most unhappy race winner ever! Wow, what's wrong with Spilak.

he's such a weirdo, i've seen him smiling once or twice all these last 6 years or so
that's why i like him i guess

i hoped for dumoulin but it seems he needed another 10-15 minutes of effort. g thomas, well he won and will win enough :p. great race overall

Pleased for Spile,he's never really won much in his career,Romandie when he was young but not much else.

He didn't won that Romandie..

true. i even remember that on the romandie site and books, valverde is still regarded as the winner. which is fair enough of course

Funny that dumoulin is sad because he didnt win the gc.
He came within 20 seconds in the end. Shows that his engine is good. If longer it would've been possible. Then again, if there were more real climbs in this race he would have had no chance
The point is that dumoulin certainly didnt come to suisse to win the gc. So normally riders in his situation say something like "its great that I got the chance to fight for the gc but it doesn't matter that I am only 3rd because thats still much better than I expected before the start of the tour"

I'm so happy. He's been one of the most underrated riders in cycling. And I can understand why. He's been doing great only in one week races, but those were the ones he was targeting the last three years and didn't care for others. Katusha had other riders for GTs and classics. I hope this changes in the future as he is capable to do great things in other races. I have in mind the Giro and some one day classics. Today he's done a fantastic ride. I follow him closely and know what he is capable of, but even I didn't expect him to win. I thought those seconds he lost with the early attack on stage5 and the seconds he carelessly lost to G in the following stages were too much to overcome. Glad I was wrong. Hats off to him.

yeah but dumoulin is a real winner and very critical of himself and his team.
Like last years WC in spain, Mollema and Dumoulin both ended in the subtop. And Mollema was like "yeah, it was not bad, not really superb, but not bad, we did alright'. And then Dumoulin 'It was horrible, we completely failed as a team, myself included. This was a bad performance'.

The difference in mentality is what makes Dumoulin so good and Mollema, Gesink etc so mediocre

Somehow I always find it difficult to precisely rate Slovenian cyclists from Valjavec, Murn, Strangelj etc. on to Mohoric....

It's clear that Dumoulin is very strong mentally. His climb on stage 5 required real toughness.

Of course I'm gutted for G, but Spilak rode a stormer today, rode strongly all week and deserved the win (marginally)

sssstt.... you are starting to make sense in a forum where people are lucky to know a bike has 2 wheels

When you are that condescending and dismissive, you really should be able to be accountable and take your medicine when you are wrong. Nice ride for Spilak.

Lol...I'm watching an Italian feed (Swiss channel). The announcer asked the guy with him (the "expert" I guess, I don't know who he is, maybe a former cyclist) if Spilak has any chance to win the Tour de Suisse. Because apparently some fan asked this via e-mail. And he said "no chance, not chance at all". Wtf he doesn't have a clue.

And lol at this guy. This was after the 2nd stage. Then in the 5th stage he talks how Špilak needs 1,5min
on Thomas to hold on in TT.

Haha, Ryo didn't even post here since page 5

Shows what a coward he is.
So everyone should be 24/7 online...? :)

Great racing today. By far the best ITT in his career so far from Spilak, great ride from Dumoulin too of course.

Bob Jungels 6th in GC is more dan decent, but I don't think he's a GC-man. He should focus on classics / timetrials.

I think the only better predictor than the gambling markets is the opposite of whatever Ryo is saying.

I admit what really gets me isn't him getting predictions wrong, nor is it really the fact that he doesn't admit to his nonsense, but rather that if you try to point him out, he insults you and goes full arrogant mode on others telling them how nobody besides him has a clue about cycling. This, when he comes up with huge amounts of tosh himself, is what makes me crawl up the walls.

That and his typically anti-social behaviour plus out-of-nowhere verbal abuse of others.

I love that he keeps on insisting that he's been earning money for cycling betting even though his correct prediction rating is something like 5%.

Is this a thread about Ryo or something? why take this so serious? When he makes a wrong prediction, he does a Houdini off the forum. What's new?

Actually, i find Ryo a pretty funny guy.

Spilak truely one of the big 1 week stage race specialists although I usually remember him for being on the break in the mythical 2009 Verbier stage :p

Until the day he disrespects you.

But yeah, let's not give him the attention he seeks.
