Cannondale-Garmin can't be happy with the way they finished, with the numbers they had in the final KMs they should have done better, but the final guy swung off to soon leaving Haas with too much to do for the final 400m.

I have seen the last false flat.

The first meters it at 3 %, but later is again about 6 %, and later an small descent, 200 m, but even at -7 %, just before the last 50 metres again at 4 % maximum. (we could say even the sprint would be in descent)

So, after the climb there is another 500 m at 4 % medium, so the climb really is 1,7, so will be more differences than in Huy.

Impressive sprint by lobato today, he is so good in this kind of sprint, but he is always bad positioned, if movistar help him he can take more wins this year.

He had a puncture in the last tour, that way he was bad positioned, but the team worked well for him.

Agree with Taxus4a.

Today they will finish one and one with small gaps. This is perfect for Evans in shape, but I'd go for Simon Geschke as an underdog.

Remember that stage in T-A where he was very close to Contador?

Uhm that was because Geschke had been in the break of the day while AC destroyed the peloton from 50 km's out, caught the leaders and rode away from them.

No ****, he stayed surprisingly close though. And proved himself on hilly courses already.

Sure he's decent on hills, but I wouldn't use the TA stage as a measurement when AC was clearly more than done at the end.

Moreno Moser made the first group today, maybe he can do something tomorrow?

Oh who am I kidding?!:p

(Would be cool if he did though)

Wonder if Sky will try to launch Porte ala last Ruta del Sol?

Oh yeah! lol I remember that, that stage was hilarious. I still don't understand why Sky did a lead out for Valverde on that stage. :D

Who are they going to try and lead out now? Impey? Evans? There aren't any great puncheurs here at the TDU.

Contador was undoubtedly a class over the other, but Simon impressed me. He finished just six seconds behind.

On a stage like this Giant should focus on Simon, not Tom. Dumoulin is a great hill rider, but on the really steep stuff, Geschke should be their main man.

Gorka should have a strong chance, Probably see Simon lead out Tom for this with his overall interests

Too hard for him IMO, this is for GT contenders, if he is able to be today in the top 3, he couild be in the podium at the end.

That stage Geschke came from a breakaway and Contador as always after a long atack was going sleeper, he has big gas, but no big endurance, and that way he managed to stay close to Contador.

I bet for Evans although this short stages are not very suitable for him. Evans in a similar climb last year was amazing.

I bet for

Evans
Porte
Izaguirre
Pozzovivo
Machado

Dennis, Stetina if he dont help Evans, an Ruben Fernandez in the top ten as well.

The 50th will be at one minute difference from the winner.

This finish suits Ardennes contenders, not necessarily GT contenders. Gilbert would be all over this in peak form.

Evans should take this if he's got any real form, Geschke and Dumoulin should go ok, Pozzovivo is another who can take this. I don't think that Porte can out kick the others, he'd need a gap at the bottom. If De Gendt has recovered from yesterday, I wouldn't rule him out either.

That is not possible with a climb like that at the end....

Is is a similar final that Fleche Valone:

Mur de Huy: 1,3 Km at 9,3 %

flecha-valona-mur_de_huy_huy_profile.jpg

It is true that Huy has 800 metres at about 12 % or more, with maximun at 25, but the global climb is not much harder, and in Huy there is not an sprint, there are more diferences.

Today the differences will be small, but it will be some seconds, plus the bonus.

wow, interesting comparison

if its anything like Huy should be a sensational finish

also on the lower slope just before the last km I understand there's a 22% section... probably second arrow from the right
