Wow. He had the key pull that split the peloton, tried to get away a few times on the descent, and then finally did in the last few kms. This was the best racing I've ever seen from Valverde. I know he gets ragged on alot for poor tactics/lack of guts, but props this time.

I have to agree with you. He could have counted on his sprint but he chose to attack (well I guess he had to take some more time on GC)

well, there's yer' problem right there, carol. attacking with ELEVEN (11) km to go after making the move that split the peloton to begin with...some nerve, that valverde. why, imagine if riders did stuff like that all the time...actual racing might happen with regularity!!
