Tough stuff by Dumoulin! Didn't lose much at all. Now he just needs to recover tomorrow and crush the TT. I think he will win the Vuelta.

Yeah well done Joachim, attack 700m out, thatll learn em

Do you not know his characteristics? He can't set a high pace for long. On the rare occasions he attacked from farther out he - extremely predictably - faded after 700m and got dropped like a stone

It's like criticizing a sprinter for not sprinting from 2kms out...

I know, it's something he has done really well for a long time, but when you need maybe a minute, minimum on a 6ft 70kg time trialler, I would love to see him attacking from at least a few K out, even if theres an 90% chance of him blowing, a 10% chance of pulling it off and gaining the time he is going to need is better than the 20(?) seconds he gained by attacking from 700m in my opinion.

I don't believe that. If that was true he would never have matched Contador and even beaten him on all those Vuelta stages in 2012 when Contador was attacking from 7k out and Murito had to keep attacking Valverde to get back to Contador.

Also I looked at the Nvegal tt results and Murito came 30 seconds behind Nibali, much of which he lost on the flat section, so he seems to me capable of riding steadily up a mountain.

Neither Purito, Aru or Majka deserve to win this Vuelta. I hope Tom wins.

Aru obviously wasn't better, but Purito and Majka didn't want to risk anything. Purito will loose this GT again, because of his cowardness and bad TT.
