Absolutely understandable post by Tinkov. I mean, its not like they have a leader in the top 4 who could fight for the win himself
In realistic terms Majka has no chance, his performance should be similar to Andy's long range attack in the '11 Tour

On PCM this would be the greatest stage of all time, but I'm preparing myself to witness this incredibly frustrating placement riding. Today Tinkoff riding behind Valverde, and Astana, just like yesterday when they panicked when Purito attacked, again closing a 30m gap to Purito. Why God, why? Cuz guess what, Dumoulin had Craddock still fresh as a daisy to lead him out on the cobbles, while Aru had... right, nobody.

If Purito goes first tomorrow, Aru needs to grow a pair of balls, even if he has 752189 team mates left, put on a poker face and sit behind Dumoulin.

That's not going to happen' :(

If Astana chases Purito down instead of letting TD doing it, I'll smash my TV (a la Oleg)

Re: 2015 Vuelta stage 20: San Lorenzo de El Escorial>Cercedi

The problem for Aru is that even if he puts some 30 sec on TD on the penultimate climb, Doomolin can diesel it back on Cotos and the long flat on the top, depending on how many climbers will be there to help Fabio. And anything can happen on the descent.

Therefore, at least Landa has to go into the break and maybe another guy to do early Cotos pacing. Oleg tweets about the revenge for Mortirolo, so certainly no help from Majka, he can even pace TD if Aru goes full ***.

On the other hand, Movistar will certainly want to rip the group into pieces as early as possible, and if Purito is on form, they can try to crack TD already on the first climb (my wet dream). Then the top 6-7 climbers (with Landa/Moreno) catch the break if there's any, use them in the valley and ride away to the glory. Not going to happen, but just imagine... (although, something similar happened in Dauphine this year, 100k+ attack of big names, Nibs/Valverde to show Skyborgs they are not untouchable).

okay that was a little bit optimistic, but a podium is definitely possible and we also have to wait how the race will unfold. As written earlier, if Astana doesnt help Giant to control the race we might have a situation in which riders like Quintana attack very early on with some domestiques. If majka follows such an attack the race situation could get very interesting and chaotic. Although I know that such a situation is very very unlikely, Tinkov would make it impossible if he helps Giant.

That was great. Nibali, Valverde, Costa, Gallopin and Martin were in that break, if I remember correctly.

Purito looks emtpy. And it's the end of the 3rd week. It would not be normal if they have such forces.
Simply not going to happen.

I think we'll not see any serious attempt until the final climb. If Aru can drop Dumoulin AND have a teammate or a solid other gc men there (Valverde?), he could do it. If not.. then nothing will happen. 20 men sprint.

So, how are our Dutch friends feeling before the great final showdown? Will all of Netherlands follow the race tomorrow? I read somewhere that at the beginning of the Vuelta there were only two Dutch journos in Spain.

Let me tell you I have been following cycling for nearly 20 years and never have I been more anxious and nervous than I am for tomorrow's stage, it's absolutely crazy that a dutch guy is vying for the win in a grand tour. It's gonna be a long but exciting day tomorrow. :D

The hype over here is immense, the whole country is completely on the Dumoulin bandwagon. But me, im totally tranquillo, this whole Vuelta has already been an orgasmic experience so "just" a podium finish would be fine with me.

I'd said the same if he was out of winning contention after last weekend.
But now, crazy enough as it sounds, a 2nd or 3rd place would be heartbreaking.
This is a unique shot at a Dutch GT victory, something that hasn't happened in 35 years, I wasn't even born when Zoetemelk won the Tour.

Yes, he has to finish it off. Don't know how to take this but Martinelli said Tom demonstrated he is the strongest climber in the race.

Yes of course, but its already been so much more than we've hoped for that it would be silly to sulk over coming 2nd. I'll be happy no matter what.
