The thing with the tactic of forcing Dumoulin to chase is, Aru and Astana must be willing to lose the Vuelta for that tactic to work. And I think Dumoulin is better at bluffing than Astana/Aru.

If Majka/Quintana/Valverde or anyone else in the top 9 goes early. He'll just stay in the wheels of Aru and Astana and look to them to close the gap. If they don't. neither Dumoulin or Aru will win. So it's a high stakes poker game, and I think Astana doesn't have the nerves to wait. They will chase sooner than Dumoulin will.

Exactly this all day long. As I said before, Tom has already shown he knows just to follow one wheel only, and he knows exactly who that wheel belongs to.

Whereas Aru and Astana have shown that they know how to panic.

Dumoulin has not only shown strength and character in this race, he's shown intelligence in his tatics and above all a very cool and calm head. Exactly what's needed to win a race like this surrounded by strong GC teams and basically no team mates of your own at the business end.

I'm not declaring Dumoulin the winner yet as he has another very hard day ahead of him today, but he deserves to win this race more than any other rider there IMHO.

The chasing group now has 5mins 20secs. Surely they wdnt give Pozzo that much time? Kirby wouldnt notice but Kelly surely would.

At the time, Millar didn't even know he was losing the Vuelta. Apparently, fellow Spaniards from other teams contributed to the complot by even congratulating Millar for his overall win while the differences increased, so that he didn't discover the masquerade until it was too late.

We won't be seeing anything like that ever again with the multi-camera television coverage that we have going on.

Race radios put done to that awesome kind of racing! Sneaking away doesn't work anymore.....

Giant at the front of the peloton trying to set a painfully slow pace up the climb. Everyone else letting them.

Giant must start to work eventually considering that one rider in breakaway loses just 14 minutes to Dumoulin.

Think about if the break got 20 minutes. Sicard would be in red and win the Vuelta in ninja style. :p

Lulu and Zeits up the road is just perfect. Aru will go on Morcuera for sure. Vai Fabio!
