Why oh why did giant not put someone in the break.
Don't have anyone strong enough I guess.

Besides, Dumoulin is getting left behind a long, long way from the finish. This stage, being ridden at a decent pace, is just too hard for him to stay with true climbers. Ultimately, even a better team wouldn't have helped.

Cotos is not a good climb to be alone. It's long and constant.

You have to feel sorry for Dumoulin. I mean I am an hardcore Astana fan, but he got done in the worst way possible, left on his own against a strong astana and katusha... his Vuelta is over,

I just dont get why alpacin didnt send anyone upfront, Ok I know they havent got the personnel for that, but at least trying to send someone upfront

Why is Nieve helping him ?

His competitors are up the road, and any of them that isn't he'll put some time into (more so if he get's up to the others).

Aru's infamous last day peaks
Not really a peak, its been more of a tactical team triumph; Landa's done a lot more than him. All Aru has done is just managed to drop Dumoulin on a tough mountain stage; like he has on every other true mountain stage in the race.

I think so, too. With current squad, Giant might have to stack all their climbers in one GT in form to contend with such situation, which they won't likely be in again in near future

Astana is the team of the year.. what they did at Giro and Vuelta (in addition to Nibali incredible victory at the TOur)

Nobody allowed them to put someone in the break most likely.

I did not know that they needed someones permission, they raced just badly here

If Astana, Katusha and Movistar rode against Giant, who could even get in the break, Craddock? You should learn about how breakaways work.

no it isn't tactical at all.

It's really simple, dumoulin couldn't follow aru. Nothing to do with tactics at all, he just wasn't good enough to follow him. It's not that he decided to let him go like purito did with contador in 2012

Rubén Plaza's ride is epic in it's own right...
