What are the odds the attackers will hold Quintana, Zakarin & co. off?

Froome and Spilak stayed away in a similarish move in 2014...
Not really comparable. This time Froome is up against a bunch of GC contenders that willingly let him go, while in 2014 he and Spilak dropped everybody else by pure strength

it depends on if thibault and/or zakarin are content with podium positions. if they decide to attack on this final climb, the attackers don't enough of a gap (or firepower) to hold them off.

If Froome has any form they could.

Somehow this feels like a good Rio road race preview.
Certainly a test for Froome. On the other hand, TJ might be thinking about something more.

Well, he attacked from far out, always a good thing for viewers in my opinion.

What a terrible season this has been for Meintjes thus far.
I really dont understand why he went to Lampre in the first place. That team looks like a mess right now.

Yeah good for him tbh, screw a meaningless top 10 go for glory

Just turned in, haven't really been following this race, but it reflects well on TJ imo that after he lost some time in the first mountain stage he will rather put in a big attack with a risk rather than be content with his thousandth top 10 in a stage race. :)

I haven't said it often, and I probably won't say it much more, but go TJ and Froomy!

They've been a mess for years. Makes the decision worse, of course.

At least he went for broke, that's a good signal.
He crashed on the first MTF (he was hit by the Med car), his form seems to be great.

I'm watching a weird stream that seems like a podcast and for the first time I'm now realising that there is really no such thing as live sound in cycling. Still feels odds
