Did you watch the Giro last year? He was great in the high mountains there, and that was against Contador and Landa in top shape, which is arguably more difficult competition than this race.

Yeah Kruijs was definitely top 5 in the mountains last Giro. No surprise he is this good when the level is lower

I'd say he was as good towards the end of the Giro last year, as he is now, keeping up with the likes of Landa and Contador.

Difference is that this year he was good from the start, and the competition is weaker.

Hopefully he won't take too many risks. Doesn't need to panic yet, epsecially with Chaves likely to lose time tomorrow and Kruijswijk vulnerable with a relatively weak team.

Nibali loosing time on the descent

No surprise on Kruijswijk after last years Giro ...at times he was the only one up with Contador towards the end and he came from a mssive amount of time down

The one in the vuelta '10, giro '11, vuelta '13, tour '14, giro '16? or the one we saw in the giro '13 or tour '14?

Seems obvious what the normal nibali is. Not sure where to put tour '12

I wouldn't put Giro 13 anywhere near Tour 14

Normal Nibali is fisherman or works at grocery or cosa nostra

I doubt he'll be able to hang on on the mur. He looks spent.
But after the ramps there's flat kilometre. It's tricky.

GPS is almost always wrong but descent isn't very hard, lots of places for a group to make up time

Giro '13 nibali was great though, yea *** competition but his performance in the ITT and the MTT was really good.

He has been looking like he had this potential for years - I for one am not surprised

Chaves on the other hand does surprise me a bit

Chaves shouldn't be a surprise. This is only his 3rd year in the WT. Only logical for him to get better.
