Do you really think ascribing opinions to people based on where they happen to be from could be fair?

Yes, but he was far back on GC. He needed to take time on many different riders. He had to attack early. I think Tinkoff's strategy was perfect, but the climb was just not hard enough.Fibula said:I bet Alberto and Majka are shaking their heads tonight and thinking Majka went far too early. Had he let the Sky team bury themselves as usual and Majka timed his effort to finish at the kilometer to go point Contador could have had Thomas on the ropes.

Well Roche and Boswell are both climbers so you'd expect them to be there
Yeah but Swift is doing his work after them two who are both climbers and Swift is not.
Swift climbs better than he sprints![]()

Yup, I was a bit bemused by his comments about wanting to ride the Tour but if he keeps improving his climbing then he'd be a useful all round domestique for Froome in July. I've also seen a really strong Stannard in this race. I hope he's got his timing right this year for the monuments.

I watched the stream with Jalabert calling the action: before the ascent even began, he noted that the climb wasn't hard enough, the road too wide and rolling, and he doubted that Berto could drop the rest, particularly considering that the final 2K were under 4% and 6%. Jalabert also described the two spots where Bertie could attack, and both times, Contador attacked. Conclusion: the climb wasn't hard enough. Fact. And the final kick wasn't nearly long enough to take more than a couple of seconds. Alberto did the best he could with the climb he had. As far as the front derailleur story, I bet we can look at tape and figure it out.LaFlorecita said:Yes, but he was far back on GC. He needed to take time on many different riders. What is also a fact is that there are many absolutely clueless British cycling "fans".. they all started watching in 2012 or later.HelloDolly said:Not a bit of it ...just stating the factsLaFlorecita said:Wow... so bitter
