Considering that there is a huge correlation between being a Brit and utterly clueless about cycling, yes it is perfectly fair.

Yes, but he was far back on GC. He needed to take time on many different riders. He had to attack early. I think Tinkoff's strategy was perfect, but the climb was just not hard enough.

Well Roche and Boswell are both climbers so you'd expect them to be there

Yup, I was a bit bemused by his comments about wanting to ride the Tour but if he keeps improving his climbing then he'd be a useful all round domestique for Froome in July. I've also seen a really strong Stannard in this race. I hope he's got his timing right this year for the monuments.

He was beaten in a sprint by Kennaugh for that national RR win in 2014... so he responds by taking Kennaugh's place in the Tour team?

I watched the stream with Jalabert calling the action: before the ascent even began, he noted that the climb wasn't hard enough, the road too wide and rolling, and he doubted that Berto could drop the rest, particularly considering that the final 2K were under 4% and 6%. Jalabert also described the two spots where Bertie could attack, and both times, Contador attacked. Conclusion: the climb wasn't hard enough. Fact. And the final kick wasn't nearly long enough to take more than a couple of seconds. Alberto did the best he could with the climb he had. As far as the front derailleur story, I bet we can look at tape and figure it out.

I have been following cycling since 1985 and just because i don't fill my every waking moment with a unhealthy obsession with one rider that border on the psychotic doesn't mean I know nothing about cycling

This board is going downhill with all of these petty arguments over rider A vs rider B and some people once again are showing their lack of class.

I know I overrated this climb because of all the training stories of Armstrong and Sky. Whatever. Thomas got what he deserved today, he was the 2nd best on the road and got 2nd on the stage
