I bet Alberto and Majka are shaking their heads tonight and thinking Majka went far too early. Had he let the Sky team bury themselves as usual and Majka timed his effort to finish at the kilometer to go point Contador could have had Thomas on the ropes.

Do you really think that he could be fair?

Do you really think ascribing opinions to people based on where they happen to be from could be fair?

Yep exactly, I live just 30 mins drive from Birmingham so I'm probably not fair either. Some ridiculous comments from some people on here this evening regarding nationality.

Thansk TMP402 ...we Brummies are a fair lot but Burning seems ot be an example of the old adage ."You judge a person by your own standards" and demonstrates by his comment a complete lack of fairness

Considering that there is a huge correlation between being a Brit and utterly clueless about cycling, yes it is perfectly fair.
True true :p

Yes, but he was far back on GC. He needed to take time on many different riders. He had to attack early. I think Tinkoff's strategy was perfect, but the climb was just not hard enough.

How is Ben Swift after Roche and Boswell in the train?

Well Roche and Boswell are both climbers so you'd expect them to be there

Yeah but Swift is doing his work after them two who are both climbers and Swift is not.

Swift climbs better than he sprints :D

Yup, I was a bit bemused by his comments about wanting to ride the Tour but if he keeps improving his climbing then he'd be a useful all round domestique for Froome in July. I've also seen a really strong Stannard in this race. I hope he's got his timing right this year for the monuments.

Any other prejudices you'd like to get off your chest?

He was beaten in a sprint by Kennaugh for that national RR win in 2014... so he responds by taking Kennaugh's place in the Tour team?

I watched the stream with Jalabert calling the action: before the ascent even began, he noted that the climb wasn't hard enough, the road too wide and rolling, and he doubted that Berto could drop the rest, particularly considering that the final 2K were under 4% and 6%. Jalabert also described the two spots where Bertie could attack, and both times, Contador attacked. Conclusion: the climb wasn't hard enough. Fact. And the final kick wasn't nearly long enough to take more than a couple of seconds. Alberto did the best he could with the climb he had. As far as the front derailleur story, I bet we can look at tape and figure it out.

You mean the same British who have poduced 3 out of 4 of the last Tour wins...

This type of xenophobic comments show you both for what you are ..

I have been following cycling since 1985 and just because i don't fill my every waking moment with a unhealthy obsession with one rider that border on the psychotic doesn't mean I know nothing about cycling

I think a couple of people in this thread might need an enforced holiday. There is no need to insult an entire nation cause your favourite rider didn't win... This board is going downhill with all of these petty arguments over rider A vs rider B and some people once again are showing their lack of class.

Lets get back to talking about the actual cycling hey?

I know I overrated this climb because of all the training stories of Armstrong and Sky. Whatever. Thomas got what he deserved today, he was the 2nd best on the road and got 2nd on the stage

Also, Malhao still happened

Ok, if we could stop with the generalisations this thread would become much healthier.

Even if it's just banter, too much and it comes across in poor taste, so please let it go. I don't want to delete posts going forward. :)

Hopefully a great day of racing tomorrow, cheers.
