Such a shame to see so much negativity in here. Personally I had a wonderful couple of hours enjoying the racing. Alberto attacking with panache and his never say die attitude. Henao being the ultimate teammate and helping to save the day for Thomas who showed a lot of guts to get up the final climb and gain back so much time on the descent.

QED.

Fantastic tenacity from Thomas to hang on by 4 seconds. Obviously a very deserved victory. What a servant he will be in the Tour!

I don't like all this talk about who "deserves" the victory. A race is being decided by who has the lowest aggregated time and who ever does that has been the fastest/smartest guy in the race.

Contador put on quite a show today, but in the end, I don't care if Thomas or Contador won. All I care about is the entertainment level and that sure was sky high today.

Regarding the whole Gallopin case, I was quick to criticize him, but I must admit that I was probably wrong and that he was right to chase down Thomas and Henao. At least it worked out for Lotto.

If Gallopin didn't chase after they caught 2nd group, than that makes perfect sense, still I would give Wellens more chance to win the stage against Contador and Porte compared to his chances in the chasing group. The rugby excuse doesn't help too much as well. :D

Fair enough, I'll leave you to your sorrows. But when you come round I hope you'll just be left with pride for the way your man raced today. It was a great sight to see and a fitting way to finish, if this really is to be his last P-N.

P.S. Gallopin is a very exciting rider too you know. Don't hold today's events against him.
You're not making it much better with all this focus on "the end".

Oh yea, obviously he should never keep on chasing when they caught the Zakarin group. I don't know if he did, though?

He clearly struggles with English and was trying to explain that they are friends, clearly. How many times has the "Spanish Armada" been given this much grief?

Sorry, I can't control who I like and dislike.

I just watched the interview with Thomas and I have to admit he wasn't bragging. Still don't like him at all and am still upset he won.

The "Spanish Armada" do more bickering than working together, honestly.

If you Can't who can? Only You Can control your emotions! Don't give others power over you and life will be so much easier.

Maybe, but you still want them to gang up against Sky and Froome, but when others work against Contador, they basically ruined the race according to you.

What, for following team orders?

Really not sure why Gallopin is getting so much stick here.

For possibly jeopardizing a sure win for him, I would be pissed at my DS as well if they really did order Gallopin to work.

It's only a small but very loud minority of people here that is giving Gallopin the stick simply for working hard to achieve a goal that is not compatible with their favourite rider winning the race. Most people here appreciate the excitement he brought to the race, though.

Not if you consider his terrible form in Oman.
But it looks like he's doing a thumbs up to Contador, that would be weird to do if he's just happy to be on the podium. Unless he is glad Contador helped him onto the podium but that would be weird too.

This, they can't even cooperate when they are riding for the Spanish NT.
Nobody had a problem with the fact that Gallopin protected his top 10 spot, even if it's not something that will change his career, it's still important for the team. but why should he work and waste energy when he has a teammate at the front, who's by far the best sprinter of the front trio? In the end it worked, but it was a risky move that could have backfired. Maybe he could have lost his top 10 spot to Jeannesson, but he was 18 seconds ahead of him on gc and G was chasing like a mad man.

I don't think it had anything to do with Alberto, he just happens to be in the picture. TLMRP is celebrating his own achievement. Can't throw his arms in the air after all!
